Only the Steelers of the '70s and the 1985 Bears ever had a D on par with the 2000 Ravens. If you are gonna put Dilfer on this list you'd have to include Brad Johnson, who went along for a ride with the Tampa Bay 's D in 2002. Plunkett did more than just "go along for a ride" with the Raiders' D.
Except Brad Johnson wasn’t a first round pick.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

      Forgot that stipulation.

Ryan Tannehill worthy of discussion here?

I'm glad we got an extra game this season.

But i don't want us to be chasing the 7th seed.

I think it's possible we get the 7th seed with Mason anyway. We would have Jay time he started (with Duck). The D was amazing that year though.

While i don't think our o will be good next season, I won't be surprised if we score more points than last season.

And while i don't think our D will be as good as our day 1 roster last year, i think it could be better than our end if season roster.

I think he’s a good example of can it work with a former 1st rounder.

He’s still considered very mediocre. Another guy that hasn’t really gotten much better. Can his team carry him like others?

TN has a great team and maybe they could carry him in the past, but I think it’s way harder now given the rules slanted to the O and so many premiere QBs.

D and a running game are important but might not be as critical in the current game? Not enough to carry someone to a SB????

RT would have been interesting if he could have landed on a pre Ben Cowher lead Steelers team back in the day. He might have been good enough to help us get over that AFCC hump that stumped us so many times.

D Patrick was talking about FA QBs this morning and brought up a good point. It's not about the regular season with these guys. They all have decent to very good regular season stats. Rather it's about the postseason and what they can do it in.
Cousins was one example; great stats in the regular season, 4 playoff games in 10 seasons, 3 TDs, 1 INT. Wentz? Was on injured reserve in his first playoff, then inactive the next postseason, and is knocked out early in his third postseason with a concussion. Mariota? beat KC his first postseason (lost to NE), then hasn't started in two subsequent postseasons.
Teams will not be patient waiting on a QB to get over a postseason hump. A QB might be lucky to get three postseasons with a team to show his stuff and if he isn't cutting it, buh bye. Wouldn't surprise me if Mayfield ends up another one where the team loses patience.
