Rooney interfering with OC selection

The further we get away from him, the more i'm convinced the success of the Steelers as a franchise was mostly the result of one man. Dan Rooney. Art II is living off that reputation for the 'Steeler Way' - but as the years pass by, I'm not confident he is a fraction of the owner/leader his father was.Comment

He has the right to maker any decision he wants, as owner. But, if so, don't hide behind the concept of letting the HC make all the decisions if he is not. Be upfront and truthful about it. Jerry Jones, as owner and GM makes all these decisions, but he is upfront about it. I thought the way they handles Arians, LeBeau and Haley were sloppy and dishonest. They tried to pin the moves on Tomlin but it was obvious he didn't make those calls.
I hear the same thing in Carolina with Tepper. I have no idea why.Steelers 27

at the end of the day I could never call it interfering ... he is the owner of the team and the team president he has every right ...........
and if the HC is not doing what he considers best for the organization it is his obligation to right the ship you know the ship he owns !!
to see it any other way is ridiculous IMO@dwinsgames on twitter .... Kenny Pickett is who I thought he was ....Comment

The owner is the King and the King rules the realm. If you don't like it find another realm.
The reality is that the Rooney's have always appeared to have a collaborative leadership structure. Unfortunately, some fans think it is like an old school model where coaches control players lives and everything about the team. Hasn't been that way for a very long time."My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

On a "Cliff Notes" response, it was due to the statements given and their order. Tomlin gave positive comments towards many of the coordinators right before they "retired." Remember when the team came out and said Arians had retired and he said he never said anything of the sort? Didn't LeBeau's situation have a similar, sloppy departure? After Tomlin gave a ringing endorsement, bother were said to have "retired."Comment

The reason that we typically don't know which decisions are Rooney's and which are not is because he does not have the ego of Jerry Jones. He can discuss these situations directly with Colbert and Tomlin. He doesn't go in front of the cameras to make sure that the whole world knows that everything runs through him.Comment

Usually a HC has the GM to answer to. The GM has the owner to answer to. Many coaching decisions don't need to move all the way upstairs. This year there is a lame duck GM so it makes sense that the owner would get further involved.

All that will happen is people will spin it into Tomlin being a puppet and not having any power.
This witch hunt of who to stone is weird. Tomlin, Rooney, Colbert, etc.. are all in on tne final decisions but Rooney is the owner. The boss. Maybe there are times Tomlin wants to keep a guy but Rooney overrules him. Maybe Rooney is fine with a coach but Tomlin has other ideas.
Not sure and not sure why people have to know every detail. It won’t change how people view the franchise, Rooney or Tomlin. Basically its win or whine with most fans who “want answers”
Hearing the same thing with the Panthers down here and the reality is until they start
winning they “want answers from the owner”
Why? I don’t know.. his answers aren’t going to change the record this offseason.Steelers 27
