    Rooney interfering with OC selection

Just like I have asserted in the past, major personnel decisions - including coaches and coordinators - are not made by Tomlin. They may feign that they are, but they clearly are not. LeBeau was a Rooney decision as was his departure, same for Butler, Arians, Haley, etc. Now I read an article that says "Canada not necessarily a given to be back, Rooney may not want him."

Pittsburgh Steelers ownership might want Matt Canada out, regardless of what head coach Mike Tomlin thinks. He's been that bad.

By the way, I'm not alluding this as being a bad thing; I don't know that I trust Tomlin's judgement when it comes to making decisions like these. And neither do the Rooneys, it seems.

      Key word being “may”.

      This might be click bait.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Should we trust the Rooneys if they are the ones making these decisions?

Maybe they should let Tomlin decide. It is a new Rooney now afterall.

The further we get away from him, the more i'm convinced the success of the Steelers as a franchise was mostly the result of one man. Dan Rooney. Art II is living off that reputation for the 'Steeler Way' - but as the years pass by, I'm not confident he is a fraction of the owner/leader his father was.

Rooney has a say over every decision the organization made. How many decisions did the Rooney's get wrong? No one will ever say. Rooney probably wanted Ben to return for 2 reasons.

He paid Ben a lot of money and he thought Ben deserved another opportunity for what he's meant to the franchise. Tomlin's reply was ok boss we will try to make it work.

People see Rooney as a man in the shadows and not the Jerry Jones type. Rooney probably has some JJ in him.

Florio's statements are pure speculation. He offers absolutely nothing to back up his claims. But hey, it'll get clicks so mission accomplished.

It looks like this entire article is based off of a chat in the PG by Dulac. I haven't hunted down the chat but looks like Dulac was simply saying that the Steelers could do it because they did it once before. I don't think there is any inside source on this story. May as well have picked it off of this board.

I continue to find it hilarious how some try to "spin" a business making collective business decisions as damning. That is what most successful businesses do. They aren't dictatorships, but there is one person at the top and that is Rooney because he owns and runs the team so guess what, he gets a voice.

Art should have interfered with Tomlin’s time out follies long ago, but hasn’t. Got other examples. Makes me think he’s not involved much in the big personnel decisions either, but suppose it’s possible he draws his own lines and sticks to em.

interfering or simply giving his input AS THE OWNER of the team?

Is it not Art II making the calls now? Serious question.

He has the right to maker any decision he wants, as owner. But, if so, don't hide behind the concept of letting the HC make all the decisions if he is not. Be upfront and truthful about it. Jerry Jones, as owner and GM makes all these decisions, but he is upfront about it. I thought the way they handles Arians, LeBeau and Haley were sloppy and dishonest. They tried to pin the moves on Tomlin but it was obvious he didn't make those calls.
