Take a chance on JuJu that he can come back strong. He's a quality receiver.

Get rid of Claypool ASAP before his trade value goes down more. He is not a good or dependable receiver and there is a strong chance he says or does something idiotic in the off-season to lower his value more.

Exactly. You and Dizz both have been VERY critical of Claypool, certainly more than me.

But why do you both agree that it is too early to cut him loose? You want the team to succeed.

As Dizz said he is young and cheap...AND HAS FLASHED INCREDIBLE ABILITY.

      Not just raw talent...performance!!!

Chase Claypool is THE FIRST ROOKIE IN THE SB ERA to score at least 10 touchdown passes through the first 10 games of his career.

Has he digressed? Sure. But he is a super raw Canadian who has FLASHED ability to be a star in this league.

I really believe some would be delighted for that star to developed elsewhere.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

      TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I'm not sure he or Dionte will ever be true #1 receivers. Both are too inconsistent

I would absolutely bring JuJu back because he makes both Claypool and Dionte better.
That's why i would trade Claypool. Him & Diontae are both #2's neither will be a #1. His route running is really bad for a 2nd year guy.

I think you have to choose between Diontae & Claypool at some point. If not this year then next. I just like Diontae better because he runs better routes.

Claypool has average hands, bad eyes, horrible route running, quits on plays, can't get separation unless he pushes off, gets aggravated with dbs glued to him & spends more time focused on the DB then his route running or adjusting to the ball. He is athletic but i've seen enough to know he will never be a #1 WR just a #2. So you have to choose between him & Diontae & UNTIL YOU DO SO we will not have a #1 WR on this team.

What are you replacing? A guy with bad hands who can't stack CBs and who falls down on every attempt?

Not sure how Captain Misrepresenting can equate firing Tomlin to trading Claypool. You really like underachievers don't ya Captain?

This team doesn't have a true #1 receiver that can stretch the field like say teams have in Jamarr Chase, Tyreek Hill, Diggs, Justin Jefferson, AJ Brown. Do you disagree? Does anybody on this board think we have a wr close to any of those? So Captain EXPLAIN why you want to stick with the same group of wides that arn't elite & don't help our QB out? I'm sure you will do some DANCING HERE!

I don't think wanting to stick with 3 solid wides in Diontae, Juju & Ray Ray & trying to go out & get a true #1 WR like a Chase or Diggs is a crazy idea. Especially when WR is again suppose to be deepest position. Get a 3rd for Claypool & draft a wide in round two. You still have the same number of picks you just downgrade one round and hopefully improve your WRS immensely. Hell trade Devin Bush too.

"2021 NFL Draft: Ranking each position group in this year's class
                  1) Wide receiver. For the second year in a row, the receiver position appears to be the deepest in the draft."

I think they keep Claypool on the rookie contract and he flashes skills on occasion. I get why people say he needs to work hard in the offseason but what the hell have Hilliard and Stewart (asst WR coach) been doing with him since training camp. They obviously watch the games and the tape afterwards. Why are we talking about him cutting routes short, not fighting for the ball, jumping early, etc. in week 17. What if his pure athleticism got him through college but the NFL light never comes on for him? Not only did he not grow in year two but has obviously regressed.

EXACTLY! I think some people here are REALLY afraid of any change. Just keep what we got & try to win. Do they watch players like Ja'marr Chase????? or only Steelers games.

I don't think a lot of people, especially the local media, watch other games or pay much attention to what other players are doing. If we have a 100 yard game from a WR, guys like Ron Cook think he should be in the HOF. Or a 300yd game from a QB is a big deal. Although I guess in this offense those are impressive.

Chase's numbers this year are in the same realm as guys like Russell Gage, Rondale Moore, AJ Green, and Lavishka Shenault.

WRONG. Trading Claypool before his value further diminishes would be the smart thing to do, and the guys running the team will be looking at that closely during the off season.

#3 WR - Ju Ju - Resign him for a couple years - Good Possession receiver, Clutch go to guy .
#4 WR Ray Ray - Good slot, quick gets open separation fast.

Claypool - TRADE on draft day . - Athletic, but runs bad routes, quits on plays, stops running, doesn't get enough separation has to fight hard for every catch. over-rated no high ceiling.
                            I agree with all this..

Has anyone been watching this offense this year though? Canada is arguably the worst OC in the league, when the opposing team knows what you're doing it might just hamper things a little bit, especially when the plays themselves are pure garbage. I just find it hard to really fully critique player performance all things considered. Bad news is this will probably be the offense next season too so buckle in, buckaroos.

They would be crazy to get rid of Claypool , it will be intresting to see what he can do with a different qb. We really only threw him two types of routes, fade and screen, and for the life of me I cant understand why we never throw him a fade in the redzone.
