So if its "CRAZY", then you think Claypool is as good as Lamarr Chase? Half as good? Quarter as good?

Why would he have to be as good as Jamar Chase? The upside for Claypool is there and you have him on a rookie deal, it would be crazy not to see what he can do with a qb under center that can make all the throws.

So I believe I may be in the minority here...but I think WR is going to be super thin at the end of the season. I do not think JJSS will sign another 1 year deal to remain in Pittsburgh. He will go elsewhere. Even at a discount.

Why do I think this? He needs a QB that will get him the ball, a known quantity.

Unless there is some truth to getting an established veteran free agent at QB...there is no way JJSS is tying his 1 year deal to a guy he has no faith can give him the numbers he will want to cash in on that big deal. That is what he was hoping for this season.

Happy to admit I will be wrong, but I think the Steelers are losing 2 WR's in the offseason (JJSS, Washington).

As Dizz said he is young and cheap...AND HAS FLASHED INCREDIBLE ABILITY.

            Not just raw talent...performance!!!

Chase Claypool is THE FIRST ROOKIE IN THE SB ERA to score at least 10 touchdown passes through the first 10 games of his career.

Has he digressed? Sure. But he is a super raw Canadian who has FLASHED ability to be a star in this league.

I really believe some would be delighted for that star to developed elsewhere.
He has also flashed incredible inability. That backshoulder drop last night showed just how bad his body control is. I swear he falls down on every other target. He has a whole lot of work ahead of him.

We're also in rebuild mode and need a QB. So, unless you can pay top dollar for proven performance, you sometimes have to go with potential. We have so many needs, that you can't pay everyone. QB, Linemen, WRs. It's not like we're one top wideout away from a championship.

But I get it. Claypool has regressed. He needs a lot of work.

We dress 5 to 6 WR’s.. why get rid of Claypool? For what?

Washington isn’t getting any better. He’s gone.

JuJu.. not sure he wants to come back but he seems to love the team and city and he can block so he comes back.

                DJ is always open..

Ray Ray.. reliable PR.. but he could go and I wouldn’t lose sleep. He will stay though because I think he will improve as a WR.

Draft another dynamic WR and grab some insurance in FA.

You guys love to scream trade but no way the Steelers give up on Claypool next year. Especially with another QB who may throw deep passes with more velocity.

JJSS won't sign another one year deal with PIT but he will sign a 4 year:

JuJu Smith-Schuster Wants a New Steelers Contract for Christmas
The Pittsburgh Steelers wideout wants a new deal this holiday.
                    NOAH STRACKBEIN
PITTSBURGH -- JuJu Smith-Schuster celebrated Christmas eve with many of his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates, hosting a Steelers YouTube stream to talk about the holiday.

The wide receiver asked his teammates plenty of questions about the most magical time of year, but the one answer that stood out came from Smith-Schuster himself.

When asked what he wants for Christmas, Smith-Schuster said "I would want to re-sign with the Steelers for four more years. That would be nice."

Smith-Schuster signed with the Steelers to a one-year, $8 million contract this offseason. Due to a season-ending shoulder injury, the 25-year-old played just five games this season.

The Steelers will have a significant increase in salary cap space this offseason as the cap is expected to rise nearly $25 million in 2022.

we basically played without both for most of this year.

Which is why its foolish to move on from Claypool when he is on a rookie deal.

He doesn't say he won't sign a 1 year deal. Just that he wants a 4 year. Given his injury, he might have to settle for less. But I hope he stays. He's the only physical presence in the group of receivers. Shame he got hurt.

All one needs to see is what Chase has done for Burrow. That offense is night and day better than anything they have had in the past decade. And people were openly laughing at that draft pick. Too bad the Steelers just have too many other needs to even consider WR in the next draft. Guess they gotta roll with Ray-Ray and the gang....

I disagree. They seriously need to address the WR corps. They are all mediocre. Johnson leads the group and is worth keeping, obviously, and yea, maybe Claypool, but we need another playmaker. We have gone down hill ever since AB left the team. He always opened up the field for the others. We are weak at this position and need help.

I would trade him for a draft pick. If we are lucky we may get a third round pick.

We need a WR that can catch, block, run and finish routes. So far Claypool hasn't shown any consistency in any of these areas.

He has the tools to be good to great, but he needs to put in the work during the off-season. So far I see no indication he is willing to do so.

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

We've also gone downhill as Ben has aged and as our OL has been a broken floodgate. We have a L O T of needs on offense.
