I’m dealing with this now with a family member. My mind has been completely elsewhere for the last month. Can’t eat, anxiety, can’t sleep. I can relate to what Harvin may be going through.

              Tough crowd in here.

Its football so we are supposed to be tough and manly men at all times.

Cry on the inside or shed a single thug tear and get back to business.

Agreed - folks at like these people aren't actually PEOPLE.

there are a lot of Ricky Bobby’s on the internet when it comes to sports.

my favorite is when a person says the difference between you and them and their demand for championships and excellence. Knowing damn well these people aren’t champions in their own professions.

I guess since they “demand” championships they actual feel like they are champions?

Now you're taking it too far the other way SOD. We can have empathy for Harvin's situation and still be demanding of a better performance on the field. Save a for a couple of punts, he has flat-out sucked all year long. Those who are being critical are not necessarily lacking any humanity...at least not that I've seen. He's going through something that's gotta be tough for anyone, let alone a 23 year-old kid. He's also a professional football player who needs to show some fortitude and pick his game up. These are not mutually exclusive positions. I'm not going to start throwing rocks at him but if he can't start to show some improvement, I hope we bring in some legitimate competition in the offseason.

Same thing with Tuitt...only worse. The only empathy I have for him is as a human being. I have no use for any grown man who curls up in a ball and can't meet the expectations so many have of him. It's been what...six months now since his brother died? Are we supposed to just feel sad for him and be okay that he's left everyone hanging...without so much as a word? Am I now supposed to feel like less of a person because my empathy for him as a person doesn't excuse his complete absence from the team and city?

Anyway, I get both sides and feel both sides. Last time I checked, I still qualify as a person.

I can't see how Harvin is leading in the AFC Pro-Bowl votes.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I have a theory on that.

He's a fan favorite because he doesn't look like the stereotypical professional punter. He's kind of pudgy ... he looks more like a regular guy ... like the folks you see in the neighborhood on a day-to-day basis ... maybe a lot like what you see when you look in the mirror. We root for fellas like that to do well. I've been critical of him, but I'd love for him to do well for that reason (but more, because it would help our team out).

Either that, or Steelers fans stuff the ballot box with votes for their punter, while fans of other teams ignore theirs.
