Yep. If Freiermuth doesn’t fumble, there is still not enough time to get off the kick. The decision not to kick on 3rd was a bad one, and may have cost us the win and first place in the division as a result.

It seems that some fans learn nothing.

What I've learned is that every team has the talent to win regardless of records, stats, fans perceptions, ect. Teams work to improve. Players and coaches are performing for jobs and potential huge contracts at the professional level. Every game is different. What happened vs X, Y, or Z teams doesn't always matter.

The factor that matters the most is how players perform on game day.

I don't blame Tomlin for every loss. But geeeez it doesn't take Einstein to run the ball first & goal from the 5 in a rain sleet game with a backup QB & Najee running well. ANSWER PLEEZ ??

Tomlin said the first down play call was a run/pass option and Rudolph chose pass. The question is why is Rudolph even given a choice. Take the thinking out of his hands and tell him to run the damn ball. I'm guessing that's on Canada for making the play call.

What we know is that they called a play that would had resulted in TD pass if Mason made a simple NFL caliber throw.

Yeah.. that pass was terrible. But if he makes it and we score rest of the game doesn’t play out exactly the way it did.

The reality is MR had us marching for a game winning FG attempt twice and DJ and Muth put it on the ground.

It kinda feels like people don’t want to blame Pat because he has played well and is a fan favorite.

Regardless of how people feel about MR I believe he did enough for us to have a chance to win this game.

If PF maintains possession the Steelers don't get the opportunity for the kick. The fumble was recovered with 8 seconds, there's no way to get the team from the original LOS and the ones on the sideline into a legal formation in 7 seconds so that MR can spike it and stop the clock. He needed to fight to get OOB. He should have hung on to it though, this team can't afford turnovers, not even one.

Why would you want to do that? If the defense is giving you a look that you should pass against, then pass the ball. The play calling isnt the problem, its the execution.

Even when the running game is working and it has for the past few weeks he doesn't trust the running game in my opinion. Its as if he isn't sold on the fact that the offensive line can create enough of a crack for NH. Of course, NH doesn't need much of a crack to gain 2 - 3 yards.

you're saying the same thing from different perspectives. he's sayin that play started with 15 seconds, ended with a fumble and recover at 8 seconds. i think i get that he's saying that they had no choice but to run that play because 57/58 yard FG in those conditions was a bad idea. meanwhile i think that you said, even if he didn't fumble, 8 seconds with no TO, we aren't sure that they even get a kick off...

On a nice day, I think Boz has a reasonable chance on that kick.

But the weather was crap.

I don't think it was unreasonable to want to try to get 5 - 15 yards closer.

The issue on that play was the fumble (and maybe only throwing it for 1 yard), not trying to get closer IMO.

i think it would be crazy even on good weather day to leave 15 seconds on the clock and attempt a 57 yarder without trying to get closer.
