You are right pappy. After combing through the stat details this game was almost dead even. Two factors lead to the win; exceptional plays by the defense in getting TOs and for some bizarre reason Stefanski outsmarted himself and went pass happy in the 2nd qtr; 4 runs vs 9 passes. They averaged a terrible offensive success rate of 15% (including 0% success on runs) in that quarter. OK, the Steelers defense had some influence in what CLE wanted to do then.
But both teams made adjustments at the half and came out blazing; CLE avg'd 52% success to PIT's 41% success on offense in the second half.

Frankly I am surprised how well the Steelers defense did to stop their run game. It was my biggest worry going into the game. But it was a combination of team vets and young guys stepping up. Loudermilk had a very nice game. He's going to be the next stud DL for the Steelers if his development continues on this pace. Those that were wringing hands about the trade to draft him can now enjoy watching him grow into an NFL player. And Wormley took some elixir that turned his game around from the previous week. Heyward was his usual man among kids all afternoon, even blowing up double teams. Man do I wish Tuitt was on the field with him. This defense would be terrifying.

I think Heyward and the DL forced the Browns to pass more than they wanted.

I think this was premature or misinterpreted. He's still on the team but was told to stay home from practice today.

With their running game and defense, a game manager should be good enough to win 10, 11 or 12 games, what happened Sunday was the defense missed tackles, receivers dropped passes and penalties were more than a game manager can overcome. A game manager, in Mike Tomlin's words, needs his teammates to make routine plays routinely, the Browns didn't do that. don't get me wrong, I'm hoping Mayfield shows a little more than he has so that the Browns are tempted to or actually make him highly paid.

Sorry bro. This isn't how professional sports works. Simply because there are multiple variables at play. You are only as good as your last game played.

Careers are defined differently in the history of professional sports.

It's interesting how people like to put "cookie cutter" blah blah blah into the equation. After all these years of witnessing otherwise I am confused by individuals who simply believe, "a game manager should be good enough to win 10, 11 or 12 games". It's not that simple.

I get it that the talking heads need something to talk about to justify their salaries. Fans need "something" to debate or discuss The reality is much different.
