that's pretty much what we've seen thru the years with Ben on these boards.

    are you new here?

we have a pretty recent thread on here criticizing Ben and his 5 TDs passes and 400 yard performance.
there's alotof good in that stat line. no?

          a loss?

we are talking about after a win.

lmao.. you are still trying to get credit
for stat lines in a loss?

I think his point is he doesn't complain about ANYBODY when we win. Which is true.

If we won that Jags game 42-17 AND BEN HAD THE SAME MISTAKES, Ben was awesome. Of course we know the only difference would be the DEFENSE in that case.

While I disagree with that assessment, it IS consistent with this game.

He doesn't care if Ben is imperfect in victory, as he doesn't care if Tomlin is imperfect in victory.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

            TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

well its a prety odd take. if someone plays well, why would it matter if it was in a loss or win.

the clear fault in that game was the defense. but yet we have idiots complaining about the QB

I agree on that game. It is ridiculous to blame Ben. But we are debating fault in a loss. Some lean towards players, others coaches when assigning blame. Truth is in my view if you judge each game without bias there will be a mix.

My question for you is why are many critical of Tomlin EVEN when we win, but we ALL generally ignore Bens mistakes in wins?

Guess that explains why you are always complaining after a win. All you care about is Ben.

speaking of the 'chin. I admit I was surprised when he was selected for the HOF. I didn't think 2 SB appearances with 1 win was sufficient. I thought his win percentage was very good - but I never viewed him as a HC who was innovative or changed the game substantially.

But I also think we're spoiled here in Pittsburgh and have had near 30 years of winning football with only a handful of down years - and that started with the arrival of Bill Cowher. His consistency, longevity and the fact he did win a SB clearly is significant and sufficient for the voters. Sure you can give some credit to the Rooney's for never having a quick curtain for their HC - but regardless of the reasons, a 15 year career with multiple playoff, AFC championship games, and ultimately a SB victory is impressive.

And if that standard IS the standard - it looks like Tomlin is making a very good case for HOF himself.

Heck was Noll a great "innovator"?
I don't think any of our coaches are.

Yet we have 3 coaches in over 50 years ALL of whom have rings.

I think we hire strong leadership types rather than innovators.

I agree, but I think innovation is something that changes the game long-term - and those that do it are potential HOF worthy. That's not to say it's the only factor - clearly with our HC tree of the last 50 years that argument doesn't hold. But as it applies to my initial thoughts on Cowher - I didn't think his performance would be considered sufficient for HOF induction without having some sort of innovation to his credit.

But that was just my view. Clearly those who vote saw it a different way. I can't even disagree with their decision. He was a great coach.

                          I actually agree strongly.

I would put Don Coryell over Cowher or Tomlin. He impacted the league more than MOST inducted coaches. It is a shame he died without entry.

I imagine he will get in eventually. He and LC Greenwood as deceased legends.

I tolerate mistakes made while under duress of a 6'5 300 LBs defensive player looking to crush you much more then standing on the sideline, with no physical harm awaiting you, and not knowing what to do in a certain situation.

or whooping it up with the coach peezy types after a big play and getting a delay of game penalty on the next play. do you consider that good coaching? well prepared?

is this what you want the coach of the steelers to be known for?

that's funny. As I was typing my reply earlier I was thinking Don Coryell not being in is ridiculous.
