We are headed South but stuck in limbo for the 2022 season

I don't like the idea of picking a QB that lost a year of games in college because of covid.
Seems like that adds even more uncertainty to the pick than there is already.
I also think that players in the NCAA can defer their draft for a year because of the lost season. I wonder if this is part of the reason that we were happier than normal to sell picks in the upcoming draft. Maybe we are devaluing the mid to late picks next year because we think there will be fewer NFL caliber players?
those who chose to sit out for Covid gained an extra year.
so you’ll have 2 classes of seniors in this years draftComment

But it would make sense to be this year's draft because many lost last year and probably elected to stay.Comment

Yesterday Mel Kiper moved Pickett up to his #1 QB prospect in the 2022 draft so I think for the moment at least Pickett would have to be viewed as a first round talent.Obviously the standard is the standard.Comment

I think QB’s will shoot up the board like they always do once the draft gets closer.
If Pickett keeps this same momentum he is definitely a high first round pick.Steelers 27

Kiper: “Pickett is making a leap not unlike Joe Burrow’s from two seasons ago.”
By Mike Wilson Oct 26, 2021
ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. released his 2022 NFL draft rankings on Tuesday, and he placed Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett atop his list of available signal-callers. And in addition to ranking Pickett No. 1 among draft-ready quarterbacks, Kiper also ranked him No. 15 overall among 2022 NFL draft prospects.
“Pickett is making a leap not unlike Joe Burrow’s from two seasons ago,” Kiper said. “After his impressive performance against Clemson, I’m ready to put him on my Big Board. The fifth-year senior has been tremendous this season, completing 68.9 percent of his passes with 23 touchdowns and just one interception. He ranks third in the country in QBR (88.1). He has 18 career rushing touchdowns. Pickett was up and down the past two seasons, throwing 18 picks and averaging 6.9 yards per attempt. He’s up to 9.2 this season. He is accurate to all three levels of the field, has shown patience in taking the checkdown throws when necessary and has good zip on his throws. Offensive coordinator Mark Whipple has done a great job with Pickett’s development.”
Kiper went onto caution that the bad tape from Pickett’s previous seasons could come back to haunt him and that the class of quarterbacks for 2022 is “far from settled.” But he also praised Pickett for his mobility and noted that his experience — which includes 43 starts at this point — should benefit him in the draft.
Pickett is in the midst of his best season to date, and he has enjoyed a meteoric rise in 2021 after an average start to his career and a 2020 season in which frequent drops by receivers and injury issues put a damper on his stat line. However, with Pickett now playing at 100 percent and benefiting from a group of more experienced receivers, he has hit his stride and reached a new level. And if Pickett can continue to produce the way he has been, he could find himself coming off the board on the first night of the 2022 NFL draft in April.

https://www.cardiachill.com/2021/10/...uarterback-accTomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

smh..
as a Pitt fan this Miami game is typical Pitt football. As soon as they get some hype and attention they nut up.
I knew they would struggle against Miami. I swear they are scared of this team.Steelers 27

Pickett’s 519 yards passing and 3 TD’s looks kind of impressive but that Miami freshman QB Van Dyke looked like the better quarterback in that game. No defense, no running game, and too many big penalties made Pitt look like the pretender that we all know they are year after year.Obviously the standard is the standard.Comment
