Seriously though, isn’t it odd having so many groin injuries?

This was a fear of mine and can’t believe it actually played out this early in the season.

Haden.. I dont know. The guy is a baller but if he keeps missing games I would probably move on from him after this year due to age and wear and tear.

We kept saying that Watt being out of camp usually leads to injury and wa-la, there it is.

Yup, hold out, sign the big deal.... there ya have it folks. Watt was my favorite Steeler on the roster until all the hold out stuff. It's like you can count on something happening when they hold out for their past worth. Well, if they base a huge pay raise on past performance, do they still get all that money if they're standing on the sideline like cheerleaders hurt after the fact? I don't know. But I do agree, the "tweak" injury was pretty easy to predict.

I know. Pretty odd. Hopefully our head trainer is thinking the same thing and rethinking some things through.

Hopefully a Watt injury doesn't happen in the future after his cap hit dramatically increases.

            But this is certainly crappy.

With luck he won't be out too long and Ingram and Highsmith can hold down the fort. If we're super lucky, Jones will shine in spot duty.

So much for being able to keep guys rested by rotating on the edge and DL.

You never know...we just squeaked into the playoffs in Ben's first SB.

yeah.. if you were Watt would you rush to play if you tweaked something?

I know he isn’t his brother but as soon as JJ got paid the injuries piled up.

When he plays he is special but it hurts like hell when all that money is in street clothes.

I think fans are going to give Watt the business after holding out and only lasting 1.5 games.

Just saw on Twitter that they are reporting that Watt has a chance to play this Sunday against the Bengals. Regardless weather he does or doesn't, it means that the injury isn't that serious. That's some good news.

I agree that it's better if Watt can play.

But before we crank up the overdrive on this narrative, let's try to keep in mind that his cap hit this year is $8M and doesn't go up until next year. So his contract isn't affecting depth on the team this year.

I agree with your last point. And maybe it contributed and maybe it didn't. Not a great look either way.

I hope that's not Watt trying to live up to the contract and coming back too soon. If he tweaked his groin, I doubt it will be healed in 7 days. I'd rather he fully recover than have a nagging injury all year that limits his effectiveness when he's in the game. Pulling/tweaking muscles can linger a long time if not allowed to heal.

I know the cap hit is small this year but didn’t he get a $35 million signing bonus this year with the extension?

While the cap hit is $8 mill I’m pretty sure we let guys like Dupree, Nelson and Hilton walk because we had to make room for Watt’s contract.

When you sign a contract that big no one wants to see him in street clothes watching our D get shredded.

Does anyone have an update on DJ? That’s the one I’m concerned about.

DJ avoided a serious knee injury, he's listed as week to week.

Very good news. Bummer about Alualu being placed on IR.
