but in return for that we received the services of Joe Schobert who had 9 tackles yesterday, including forcing the crucial 4th quarter fumble that was recovered by TJ Watt.
and while Williamson and Witherspoon were wasted picks imo, it looks like Loudermilk is going to be a good one. he also played well yesterday against the Brownies, at a time we badly needed some depth on our DL.Comment

is he good enough to forgo 2 picks. in a deep draft? was anyone picking this guy until the next round. the draft analysis seemed to not think so.
how many picks did we forgo for bush? and then fitz?. these multiple picks traded away have a cost to them.
we had/have many holes on this team. some even on the offense side of the ball.
but then people bitch and complain how bad they look during the games. do you see other teams build an OLs with the same type of pedigree/assets we are putting out there this year.
I'd guess we're easily the team with the lowest asses spent on the OL. and before Najee...running back tooComment

I dont get that at all (trading Ingram). Hes a quality player and our top reserve for 2 key positions on defense. Giving him up for a day 3 pick seems crazy.we currently have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and two 7th round draft choices.
Bud Dupree should net us a 3rd round comp pick, Matt Feiler a 5th and Mike Hilton a 6th as long as Joe Haeg plays less than 25% of our snaps.
and rhe Steelers are trying to trade Ingram for a possible Day 3 selection, so we should have a good set of picks by the time the draft arrives.Comment

Yeah, I'm kind of with you here, of course, we don't have all the inside information. I would have kept him for the one year rental, unless, of course, I got what I wanted in return. I find it hard to believe the Steelers were desperate for a 6th round pick. so I would have held out and continued to rotate him along with Highsmith and Watt. The number of snaps difference between Highsmith and Ingram is about 35 so its not like he was begin completely ignored. Anyhow, the Steelers have a 6th round pick maybe they'll find another AB (without the attitude, of course).

isn't there a max number given out each year? And with all the cuts of vet players due to the cap/covid crisis there could be a whole lot of teams in the running for comps next year. Steelers have been squeezed out before.Comment

the maximum amount of comp picks a NFL can receive in any given year is 4.
we will receive at least 2 of them, I guarantee it.
if I'm wrong, I'll say that Steel Maniac is a good guy in my sig.
as you can tell, I'm 100% sure.Last edited by hawaiiansteel; 11-02-2021, 10:41 PM.Comment

4 for a team but isn't there a max for the league that gets divided up?
Maybe misremembering?Comment

I guess on the bright side, we turned a cast off, low cost UFA into a draft pick. And we still got half of the games for his contract.
I'm not a huge fan of the move (especially giving him to the currently non-playoff team most likely to compete for a WC spot). But it's better than cutting him later for nothing if we thought he'd pull a James Harrison.Comment

You are correct North. From NFL.com
The number of compensatory picks allotted each year is limited to the number of teams in the league (32), per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. However, compensatory picks are not divided equally among the teams, and no team can receive more than four compensatory picks in a single year.Comment
