Troy was awesome. One of the best speeches. I felt inspired. He’s smart, eloquent, humble, and one of the most other worldly talents in the history of the game.
I know I’m a homer, but every other speech this weekend paled in comparison.
The only other moments that hit me was Bill Nunn getting in after his death and noticing how many people got in so long after their playing days and some of the closest people not being around anymore to celebrate with them.
I noticed it’s 47 years since Donnie Shell was drafted. So he’s gotta be about 70. How long do you have to make a great player like that wait? So many of his coaches, friends, family members surely have passed by now and many of those people would have probably appreciated his induction and that’s a bummer.
Moral to the story, be successful at life sooner than later so you have more time to enjoy accomplishments with others before you or they die. I know, morbid, but it stood out with some of the older folks this year for me.sigpicComment

They had the Steelers scout who brought Troy to Colbert's attention before the draft. Colbert asked him "What do you see?" The scout (can't recall his name) said he was at a complete loss for words. Finally Colbert said "I see water". He paused, "water goes where it needs to go, water finds the holes, water can't be stopped". The scout said "THAT'S IT EXACTLY!"
thought that was a cool story.Comment
