it will be interesting to see if that translates to the pros.
Well, year 2 is when the game supposedly slows down for players who need time to transition to the NFL. It should help to be running a playbook/terminology that he is already familiar with.

I think McFarland is the one that needs to slow down. Dude was out in front of his blocking for half the season.

        No worries on Najee.

you mean the guy you said over and over again wouldn't get drafted by any NFL team in the first round?

This statement implies there were blocks on run plays last season.

            Fact checking required...

McFarland looks like he lacks vision and instincts.

how does he not pick up the first down on this play? can't get him into space much better than this.

I think his biggest problem is he is trying to do too much on every carry. The juking on that play wasn't necessary. Just put head down and pound forward. The coaches need to drill that into his head.

That was my reaction when that play was made. I wouldn't call it instinct as much as awareness. He tried to juke the guy and the tackler got the better of him. Any other time then maybe that is understandable. But when you know that you have to get to the first down marker you should know not to juke and just get that spot.

I wasn't all that impressed with McFarland last outing. He was just ok. He still struggles with vision at the line. And tends to run off balance and is easily tackled. Hope he improves but so far in preseason....meh.

My guess is that it won't matter much because we don't usually split carries.

But maybe having an OC that's more about the chess match will change that?

Tomlin only drafted him because McFarland is from Maryland.

People are talking up Jay Sam because of his showing in the Eagles games. But hold your horses. Williamson says after looking at the tape he actually missed a bunch of holes and probably left 50 yds on the field. And this was against 2nd and 3rd stringers. There's still hope he won't make the roster....

I think all the RB's missed some holes.

Samuels probably makes the team because he is probably the 2nd best 3rd down RB option on the team.

                              Samuels runs scared..

always looks like he is bracing for impact instead of making a guy miss.
