What is the rule? If a defender is on his feet you can’t jump? What if he is diving at your feet?
    Nothing California does surprises me.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

This is good to hear. While hard work is great you definitely need a balance.

Its a long season and hopefully it will be even longer with a nice playoff run.

One reason why there is a mass exodus from that state. Too much statehood. They are responsible for the "...may contain material known to be a carcinogen as determined by Calfornia code" on nearly everything we buy

          lmao at this exodus.

once the numbers came in for 2020 a whopping four-tenths of 1% left Cali.

It was anecdotal based on family that lives in Dallas who said properties have gone through the roof and been sucked up by all the Calis. 10M+ is nothing to sneeze at. And there are a whole lot of software people now chosing to live elsewhere and work remote. Nothing like making a California wage and living in the Dakotas.

I heard all about the exodus and then the numbers came in and I was underwhelmed.

If I lived in a pricey area and could work remotely and keep the same salary I damn sure would look into it. But I think employers will start adjusting salaries if this continues… lmao.

No way I’m paying for a Cali COL salary if you want to move to Kentucky.

Stay in California. Don’t need Calis polluting the Free State of Florida

Here's a story about this kind of thing from NPR's The Indicator from Planet Money.
The median price of a single family home in Bozeman, Mont., is now over half a million dollars — nearly a 20% increase from last year. Why has the housing market gotten so hot so fast?

It's doesn't take much to overwhelm the population of smaller places. Even if the people leaving don't make much of a dent in CA's population.

And presumably it's affluent people who are leaving, so the people leaving are potentially taking a disproportionate amount of state tax revenue with them.

I believe that this is also an issue here in NY (both the city and the state).

Lots of self employed people / people that work from home I know are moving for other states.

And some others I know who are staying have their kids finishing high school that are only looking out of state because they worry about the effect of covid restrictions here on quality of education. I assume that's happening in CA too, since I think their restrictions are (much?) stricter than ours.

we moved from Brooklyn to NC during the market crash of 2008. We picked the perfect time to move to NYC (sarcasm).

my sister still lives there but she flirts with the idea of moving. NYC just wasnt any fun without a job or with everything closed up.

But I have also heard stories of people who moved to Florida and Tennessee and them realized the talent level is lower and its “boring”

Once everything is back to new normal I expect those cities to rebound. Young people will always flock to major cities for a chance to make great money and run the streets at night.

I think it will be interesting to see what the future holds for mega-cities like NYC.

There are certainly major advantages there.

But I think those advantages are mostly for the affluent (and maybe for the young...and single). And that it can be easier to attain a high standard of living in smaller cities. But that might just be my own bias as I think that moving from a big high cost of living city to a medium sized affordable city was great for my family. But, I wasn't a single 20-something at the time either.

I guess the pandemic showed the big flaw of huge, super-dense cities. It will be interesting to see if people flock back to the very high density and things like crowded public transit after this. I don't think they'll be ghost towns, but I wouldn't be surprised if mega-cities become somewhat smaller, and medium-sized cities become somewhat larger. Especially if people can still work remotely, pull down HCOL salaries and work in LCOL areas.

But time will tell. The best bet is probably on humans forgetting the dangers in short order and going back to what they think is best in the short term. Kind of like market cycles...although apparently household debt loads were lower in this crisis than in 2008, so maybe we do learn to do things that help in the medium to long term

And to stay on topic, I think Harris is going to be great...if we can put together a line that doesn't see him getting hammered in the backfield.

                        haha.. indeed NB.

For me cities are only fun when you get to go out and enjoy what they have to offer. When things are closed up you might as well move somewhere cheaper with more room if you are going to be stuck inside.

and yes, Najee is going to have an awesome year! I can feel it!
