Who do you think is the most underrated on our team?
On Offense, it could only be an OLineman because those are the only guys that don't get much attention. Maybe big Al is worthy of consideration given the pass rush matchups he draws week in and week out. But Ben gets rid of the ball so quickly, do those guys even have to be great?
Defensively, there's some under the radar guys like Vince and Alualu. But they're just good, sound football players who are steady contributors. They're good but not great.
Maybe Tuitt doesn't get the recognition he deserves. All the attention seems to go to TJ, Cam, and Minkah. And Tuitt might be the most imposing and dominant defender in the trenches that makes everyone better.
Bud used to be underrated, but he's come into his own in the last season. He is the guy besides Tuitt that I would not want to hit me. While TJ might be the better football player, I always feel like Bud might be the guy more likely to force a turnover or create a mistake.
The guys we don't talk a lot about that probably belong at the top of the underrated list are Haden and Nelson. Cam Sutton's coverage flies under the radar as well. Overall, the secondary doesn't get a lot of praise, but someone has to force the other QB to hold the ball so our pass rushers can get there.
I think Haden's been one of our best FA signings ever and his ability (even as he gets older) to take away a top target makes the whole D work. Nelson is right there with him.
And then there's Edmunds who's the other forgotten guy on the backend. I think he goes in the Alualu category. Good, but not great.
Overall, I think I'd go Haden or Nelson. It's really a toss up. Haden's got more history as a pro bowler and people know him, but I think people think he's old now. Nelson is a little less known so maybe he deserves the nod cause he's still got his best years ahead of him?
