I agree that Tomlin's challenges are generally bad, but I didn't have a problem with this one. It seemed more like an opportunity for an extended time-out for a reeling and gassed defense that needed to collect itself and focus on preventing a TD.

Conner is not a legit NFL starting RB. And that's even before considering that he gets hurt all the time. We have to hope and pray that McFly is the real deal. Snell deserves a roster spot, but I don't think he is going to set the world on fire.

Ben is rolling into himself, both good and bad. That pick was horrid. I don't know how Ben keeps up with the brain farts.

I thought the secondary looked suspect the first week and today did nothing to change my opinion.
This was a product of Fangio's defense. They won't let anything deep but give up the short stuff. No reason for the Steelers to push it. Take what they were giving. But they need to be a whole lot better on 3rd down to extend drives.

Conner is a good NFL starting RB. His issue is staying healthy.

And what happened to the vaunted 2 TE offense talked about all offseason? Nada. McDonald has disappeared from this offense.
And the motion at the snap? One play, with a fumble by DJ and it disappears the rest of the day.

I watched the first half of the pats/seahawks to try to get a little comparison. Their offenses are clicking at a much higher rate than ours. I get that ben sat out a year - but I don't put our mistakes solely on him. It has been sloppy all around. However, we were gifted with a sept schedule that may allow the steelers to work out the kinks more favorably this year than in years past. It was probably too much to hope that after sitting for a year and no pre-season games that we would start in great form - but there is definitely some work to be done on offense.

As to other comments on the specifics of this game.

yes, the officiating was not good. way to ticky tacky on some of those PI calls. I even thought the block in the back on the return could have been a no-call. It's too early in the season to be sure, but does Joe Haden seem a half step slower this year?

yes, the fake crowd noise is absurd. it's like a low quality white noise machine in the background. We all know there are no crowds. that false cheering is not enhancing the game, it's a distraction.

I didn't like the challenge. It was easy to tell the receiver had gotten 2 feet in. If Denver had scored a TD on that series, we would have probably needed the timeout to try to go down the field in the last 2 minutes.

I don't think we had too much for new injuries in this game, did we? If that's the case, it's a big positive.

Well their were mistakes in the Pats/Seahawks game as well, I mean Wilson threw a pick 6 on like the first play. The difference is they have QB's who can pick up first downs with their legs to keep drives going, your seeing it all over the league. Our problem is we are running way to many screen passes and we aren't fooling anyone, when we let Ben drop back and do what Ben does we start to move the ball and put points up. But with that said I think our offense is right there, we have scored 26 in our first two games and we are still shaking out the rust, we are going to continue to improve.

As for the defense, they are playing pretty solid, I think they have been the victim of some bad officiating, every time we have tight coverage a flag seems to come out, also with our pass rush I am shocked that we haven't drawn one holding penalty? Our corners are going to be just fine, sure they have given up a few catches but those kinks will get ironed out, the more important thing is we are still making it difficult to get in the endzone.

This game shouldn't have been close. What was it?... 5 sacks in the first half, resulting in a 17-3 lead and their starting QB out for the game?

We should have been smelling blood. Instead, it felt like the defense was tired and we generally played not-to-lose for too long in the 2nd half. Add in fumbles, turnovers and phantom pass interference calls, and this game was much closer than the talent comparison between the two teams.

Live and die by the blitz. We see the big 7 sacks on the stat sheets but if we don't get to the QB watch out.

During one game they commented that holding calls are down 80% year over year. OLs didn't magically learn how to block this year, especially after no preseason. This is on the officials.

LAC played with a rookie QB and nearly beat the vaunted KC. No name MIA almost pulls an upset over BUF. It happens... the NFL is a tough league.
