    Ok, I'll go first.....

90 minutes past end of the game and no comments??

Yep, I get it. What to make of this team?

I mean, when you have 7 sacks. 12 qb hits. Bombs to claypool. a 14 point lead at the half and an opposing team who has lost the starting QB and now must have the backup face what is reputed to be the best defense in the NFL - no worries right?

yet it took a brain fart on a 4th down play to stop the broncos.

So, like last week - maybe a little good and bad to discuss.

This week, i'll start with the good.

O-line did a solid job, especially the right side. Steelers gave some help there, but Ben had good pockets and time to throw
Ben had a decent game. Not spectacular - but good. The interception was awful - especially with 6 seconds to decide.
Claypool is going to be stellar. What a beautiful catch and run.
Dionte has flashes both great and awful. Today it was more good than bad.
The defense didn't sell out like last week to stop the run, but still did a nice job on the front lines.
great pressure when rushing 4. that's really nice to see
I thought the game plans called on both sides of the ball were effective. Any hiccups resulted from poor play, not necessarily stupid calls.

    here's the bad.

offense kept a bad team in the game with ridiculous turnovers.
high amount of penalties kept a bad team in the game with first downs
connor is a north south runner, not a speed around the edge runner.
snell puts it on the ground two games in a row
I have yet to see the upgrade in the punter
Someone needs to take the red flag out of tomlins pocket and never give it back. The lost timeout could have been crucial.
    horrible 3rd down conversion.
clearly still a lot of rust on offense.

the upside to the season is we started against 2 teams that on paper the steelers were clearly superior to. the team is 2-0 as expected - but dang if they didn't make us sweat it both weeks. Houston will be interesting. They may be 0-2 coming in and desperate - but i think Bill O'brien is an awful coach so we still have a great chance to be 3-0. I thought 3-1 to finish sept was doable If they get there, no matter how ugly - it's a solid start to the season. These wins will pay dividends in December when hopefully they are playing their best football.

I just didn't need today's stress. It's too early in the season to be popping Tums - especially against a beat up team with a backup QB.

    yeeesh.

But I'll just focus on 2-0. That's what I wanted for the first two weeks...

    serenity now........

Good observations, Starlifter. Too much sloppy play, but encouraging to see our backup RG and RT do as well as they did. Whenever we get our offense firing on all cylinders, we're going to be almost impossible to stop.

Enjoy the win, and let's see if we can clean up a few issues moving forward.

Good post ; I agree... a backup coming off the bench against a supposed top defense and moving it up and down the field. But we’ll take the win. A lot of good stuff for the coaches to get on the players about in that film room to improve on.

Kudos to the O line. Thought the new right side did well.
Hilton played a real good game.
Shocked that Edmunds may have had his best day as a pro.
Bush struggled in coverage. Fant beat him by a few yards more then once.
We looked gassed on D in the second half.
DJ has game and Claypool he has looked good at wr and excellent as a gunner. First man down field more then once.

Nelson looks like garbage and Haden doesn't look much better. there is some concern about our CB play. Hilton is a rock

bush got abused today and that's out there for teams to exploit

that's my glass half empty quick observations

              - TEs are still a problem for the Steelers; Williams on Fant for the TD, argh?!?!
              - Rust still on offense; Roethlisberger still getting used to his receivers
              - DJ with up and down game
              - Bush all over the field
              - Dupree with some pressure but no splash this week after the Donks decided someone should block him
              - Claypool?... um yeah
              - Conner is not a short yardage back
              - DId the FB play today?
              - Ebron / Roethlisberger not quite sync'd up yet
              - Haden with a bit of a rough outing but Sutton is a tall task for any CB; is this the beginning of the end for him?

Edit: gotta give credit to Dupree taking the QB out of the game today

i liked seeing connor improve from last week, but jeez cover up that damn ball on that long run. didn't he learn anything from the cleveland game last year.

the game is over with the first down so put 2 hands over it or just go down. that thing was hanging out low there waiting to get stripped by someone from behind

Ball security needs to be a real point of emphasis with our offense

                    Negatives stuck in my head

-Snell needs to go back to ball security class
-Ben still has strange brain farts
                    -Secondary makes me nervous.
                    -Where’s Minkah?

Lots of room for improvement. Let’s hope they do because everyone in our division looks better than the Broncos.

ST making a turnaround? McCloud showing real vision and burst.

Officiating was atrocious. Phantom PIs, blocks in the back. Very frustrating to watch.

WRs are wide open on a consistent basis. Lucky we’ve played 2 avg QBs. The secondary has been underwhelming. A good QB is going to torch them.

                          A few more thoughts:

                          - without consistent QB pressure, the secondary is getting torched in their zone coverage. Improvement is needed big time since they can’t rely on 7 sacks per game. Everyone looks a step slow.

-Homefield advantage is nonexistent in 2020. The canned stadium noise is annoying as heck.

-Ben has moved on from the “Dilly Dilly” audible call to “Pringle Monday”. Loved it!

Why is Ben so hesitant to throw the ball down the field? He had one throw to Claypool today but it seemed everything was under 10 yards. Were they concerned about pass protection? Connor has zero vision and instinct as a runner. Offense was REALLY tough to watch today. And the defense in the second half looked nothing like a top defense. I thought the secondary looked suspect the first week and today did nothing to change my opinion.

I don’t think Ben is hesitant to throw the ball downfield but I think the coaches were. It probably had a lot to do with the entire right side of the offensive line being hurt.
