In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:
TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher -
We are the Steelers. Forget the VOLUMINOUS facts I've provided about league success.
The STEELERS have won SIX Superbowls. Not a single one without a HOF caliber DB.
I have contended that elites QB and DB are the best formula for championships.
Not only has nearly EVERY SINGLE HOF QB in the league had at least one elite secondary player in Superbowl victories.....
Our Steelers?
Only championship Steelers who are clearly HOFers who started the last two SBs...Ben and Troy.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 05-18-2020, 10:19 PM.sigpic

Ben was 2 when he went to his 3rd SB.
Ben is 38 years young. Time isn’t on our side at the QB position.Steelers 27

I generally agree with you about skill players.
I'm a bit torn on Juju. Right now, I think he's the only proven WR we have on the team.
I also think that players have a much greater chance of living up to 2nd contracts vs 3rd ones.
But I think Juju will end up having a market value that makes him a top 10 cap hit at WR.
I think the Steelers will offer him a long term deal (like we did with Bell).
Do you think that's something we should avoid?
Like I said, I'm personally torn. Maybe I'll feel different it we get a chance to evaluate our other WRs with a legit QB.
But if they don't really pan out, I do want Ben to have a legit weapon at WR for his last year or two (assuming he makes a successful comeback this year).Comment

Regarding Juju, it's a conundrum. A second contract comes down to this season. If he shines he could price himself off the team what with the other signings that must happen next season.
On the other hand, if his season is like last year, do you really want to resign him?Comment

But, I think that he'll have a good season if we have a competent QB throwing the ball this year. If I'm wrong, I think we let him walk. I just don't think someone can do what he did in his first few years and then turn to ****.
Although if the answer is just "Ben made him look so much better than he actually was", then maybe that feeds into the idea that he wouldn't be worth the 2nd contract anyway.
I think the bottom line is that having a high cap hit QB means that you have to make tough decisions.
I think we'll find a way to keep JuJu in a contract that I don't hate but don't love either.Comment

I know people like you think we can easily replace production but it’s not guaranteed.
We also can’t get every great defensive player just because you want them.Steelers 27

Juju is much better than Mike Wallace underneath but the reason Wallace used to shine was because he was usually going against the 2nd or 3rd best WR. Once he was the #1 things changed.
Hopefully Juju bounces back but I’ve always been a fan of Juju in the slot.
Claypool may be the WR who helps Juju get his mojo back.Steelers 27

I like the young guys, we have a season to see what Mapletron can do.
We also have perhaps the best tight end tandem ever.sigpic
