    Bortles, Flacco, or Rudolph?

Who would provide a better stop gap if Ben gets hurt in 2020? If this team can win a SB, and I think they can, then we need to print up for the best temporary QB we can afford. I think Newton is too expensive and wants to start in 2020.

If Bortles can be had cheap, I think he is a better option in a pinch than Rudolph. He is capable of putting up big numbers in spurts, and maybe a year with McVay might have helped him cut down on bad decisions?? He has lead a team to the AFC championship at least.

Flacco can also light it up for a game here and there.

Both are seriously flawed, but I'm not sure Rudolph has the confidence to move the offense downfield yet and those guys I believe would.

I'd stick w/ what we have - it's sink or swim for Rudolph - if BEN misses significant time and Rudolph can't keep the Steelers afloat then so be it.
THEN we can start talking about taking a QB in the 1st or 2nd round next year.

UNTIL then the only QB that would have been worth signing was WINSTON.

      This is the correct decision.
Think about this; Roethlisberger struggles early on and you have a vet QB on the bench, are you pulling him? With Rudolph at least you have the excuse that he isn't a better option than a struggling Roethlisberger.

Mason is still in his rookie deal. The other guys would want much more money. The question comes down to - will any of these guys give the Steelers production that would justify the vast difference in expense? I don't know that Flacco can finish a game anymore let alone a season if Ben goes down again. Bortles perhaps, but there's a lot of bad with the glimmer of good. Winston has skills, but everything other than that seems like a horrible fit for the Steelers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Colbert picks up a veteran backup, but I don't think it will happen.

Is Paxton Lynch considered a "veteran backup?" I don't know that's what you meant, but he's been a starter in the league. While I wouldn't pin my hopes on him, he is also on the roster now and came cheap.

interesting point. I forgot about Paxton. He was drafted in 2016 so I think we got him still on his rookie deal. In other words, as you said - cheap. I wouldn't call him a veteran though, he's been in the league but doesn't have the game experience of the names we're throwing about. My point is that anyone who has started seasons and has a large resume of playing on sunday - is going to be far more expensive than the options we have on the roster now. So it comes back to - does Colbert think their production would be so much more significant (if needed) that it's worth the cash? the Steelers aren't exactly swimming in money right now. That's why I think we stay with what we got.

I agree. The team believes in Rudolph and I do too

Thank God no Jamies. He's trash - refuses to take coaching and stop throwing picks. It's like he's too stupid to get it. Picks lose games. But he threw 30 of them in one season. Remember the games when Ben just throws endless ints giving us no chance of winning? That would be JW all the time.

And the other 3 mentioned in this thread, Borts, Flucco and Mason? Well, we are stuck with MR for this season, but they other two are horrid. Flucco was God-awful in Denver last year and in Balt. the season before that. Just terrible.

Flacco has always been overrated. he wasn't good when he thought he was good. He was always a game manager.

Hey you strangers... it looks like we got the gang back together again~!!!!

Great to see you guys posting ~!!!

I think it is tempting to get a stop gap, but we all know it isn't feasible.

But If I had to chose one,... Oh boy, that is a tough list to pick from.

Can Flacco even do 3 step drops? Can he even walk? ( I want to pick him due to he won the big game 2 times)
Bortles, I don't even know if he is any better than Rudolf... ( he did beat us down though)

I think I would would be Rudolf.

Flunko's best quality fits with the Steelers #1 pick last week. Chuck the ball downfield and hope for a catch or PI.... what did someone say, 80inch target zone?!? Dayum

I agree, what's the point of signing some "veteran" who won't be better than what we have now? We all know, it's Ben or bust, that simple. Cam or Winston? No thanks.
