I was never a Cowher basher. So if I were back then, I'd have been defending Cowher.Comment

Like you, I was defending BC for the same reasons I defend MT (although maybe not as strongly as you did back then since I never got a cool nick name).
Consistent success in the NFL is really hard to do and almost no coaches do it.
You don't fire guys that win consistently, even if they don't win the SB. BC would have still been an excellent coach even if he didn't win a SB on a trick play after making it based on a freak shoe string tackle. And Tomlin would still be a great coach even if he didn't win a SB because of a freak interception return and a perfectly threaded late game TD
And if you want to compare playoff disappointments, BC dominates MT in missed playoff opportunities. But, it's really hard to win single elimination tournaments in pro-sports because chance plays a significant role and critical injuries have huge impacts.Last edited by Northern_Blitz; 04-28-2020, 05:06 PM.Comment

It doesn't take a lot to look around the league at teams constantly looking for a winning coach.Comment

Knock Hairbag and the Rats out of the playoffs, beat Belichick and the *'s in the AFCC, and smash Brady in the Super Bowl. That would be just perfect.Comment

That would be immensely gratifying. But, man, knocking off Balt. will be a colossal challenge, especially after the meritorious draft they just had. They were already a 13-3 team last season, but now have Queen (the new Ray Lewis) , Dobbins (2000 yard rusher in one college season), Madubuike (3rd best DT in draft, could end up being the best of the lot, a beast of a space eater), and Devin Duvernay (a blazing playmaker who Jackson can dump off passes to who can just kill you). It doesn't seem fair that a team already so good got this many great players.Comment

Defensively, they look to be loaded. Even with the massive regression of Jackson, (which I forsee) If the defense is holding offenses down, all it will take is a TD and a few field goals to win games. Like Tebow did back in that magical year with the Broncos when they eliminated us in the playoffs.Comment
