Actually, since winning the Super Bowl a decade ago (9 seasons, he was out due to suspension in 2012), Payton has coached 10 playoff games, winning just 4 of them.

Tomlin inherited the nucleus of a team that already won a super bowl. That’s how he got his super bowl victory. If he doesn’t have Cowhers super bowl nucleus , he would have nothing. Sean Peyton built his team to win a championship. Big difference . Peyton is the better coach. And it’s not close.

There’s more then stats that determines who’s a good coach overall. You know that.

Tomlin got his ring because he got Cowhers players and coaches. Peyton built his championship team from nothing. Peyton is a superior team builder and coach. Tomlin wouldn’t have half those numbers if he didn’t have Cowher’s Super bowl nucleus.

Sean Payton had Drew Brees at QB, and was an 8 point favorite playing at home. Tomlin had an undrafted rookie QB playing on the road.
