I’m not really into ratings as the barometer for play. I prefer film.

Lamar Jackson may not have the QBR but I bet money he keeps DC’s up at night.

This is why the comparison with Ben’s first year is flawed. Ben didn’t look like this his first year. No one is out here creating nicknames for Mason just yet.
there were completely different circumstances when Ben entered the lineup... we had close to 25 years of below average (to piss poor) QB play when Ben took over. Being a 1st round pick.. there was a ton of hype around him. Mason (as a 3rd rd pick) is trying to fill the shoes of the best qb in franchise history.

Theres one legit reason why the comparisons are flawed..

Performance wise..there wasnt a ton of difference between the two. They still tried to "Protect Ben from Ben" back then.. the same way the are doing Rudolph now. They arent the same type of QB.. but the #s are very comparable.

They know this NOW; but from games 1 & 2, they didn't know that.
We also had Mongrief on offense batting down passes in those games.

yeah, it was like the other team was playing with 12 defenders and we only had 10 guys on offense...

I want MR to be successful, so much so, that Ben can retire and take his place in the HOF but not yet, imo.

I agree Mason isn't passing the eyeball test yet. He's done some good things but he's not there yet.

My eye test says Rudolph was noticeably better in his last game than his first.

                What constitutes "being there?"

                70% completion rate
4 to 1 TD to INT ratio?
                >50% red zone proficienct?

Not sure about your "eye test" but I see him getting better every week. The problem has been as much lack of supporting cast, e.g. injured RBs and WRs dropping passes, than anything MR has done wrong.

My issue with Mason is far too many passes aren’t pass the sticks and the dreaded late 2 yard pass to RB’s on 3rd and 9.

I understand we are keeping it conservative but the D won’t be able to save us every game.

The WR’s aren’t doing themselves any favors either. I’m also disappointed in their ball security and drops.

Would be nice to see our O finish a drive early in the 1st qtr.

With that said, who is our # 1 WR now? Because when I look at the stat sheet at the end of the games, it sure isn't Juju anymore.

I don't think the stat sheet is necessarily indicative of the number one, especially with a rookie QB throwing. Which receiver are opposing defenses putting their best corners on? Which receiver is getting the most double-teams?

We talk about franchise QBs, who is the franchise WR? Not sure I see one on the roster at the moment.

Its not really a thing. Why?
Elite receivers are pretty irrelevant to championships in this era.

If our receiver corp is "below average" overall...THAT is a problem

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Did he say without Ben too?
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?
