Today was a win but it doesn't feel like one. MR holds the ball for an eternity, he's a sack or strip sack away every tine he drops back. He was fortunate the Colts only got a safety out of the sack in the end zone. He is going to have to play better for the Steelers to continue winning games. The defense had 3 TOs this week and the Steelers were in jeopardy of losing the game.

I believe he also lost faith in Juju after the INT on the pass that slipped through his hands. While that INT is entirely on Juju, you can't ignore him and James Washington was making plays today, try and get him the ball.

Imagine what happens if we ever have a game without 3 turnovers.

Our O is pretty terrible. And I think QB is a big part of it (but I also think Fitchner isn't a good OC)

I thought everyone was a Fitchner supporter; did I miss something?

I hate to say it but I think I’d rather have Mason Rudolph starting for us than Baker Mayfield.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

I'm no expert, but something off with his dropbacks. Even in shotgun, he seems like he wastes time dropping back too far and its often not straight back.

That safety was just mind-blowing stupid. Who does he think he is?

MR is struggling reading defenses, which is why he is holding the ball so long. That is also why you see alot of his downfield throws are fades down the sideline, it is a very simple for him. The coaches are doing him a favor, they arent handcuffing him.

I agree Wiz. A lot of what we are seeing on offense is intentional. Rudolph has a ways to go but they are spoon feeding him the offense. Much rather see this than the mess in CLE.
Defense keeps the game close, offense only needs to do just enough. It might not beat the best teams but It's working for now.

I thought when we drafted him that we got a big time gunslinger but as it turns out he’s barely even a game manager. Maybe we should sign Mike Gundy to be our offensive coordinator since Fichtner can’t coach him or anyone else up.
Those PITT teams had a new HC and a terrible coaching philosophy on defense. They hung their CB’s out to dry and Mason was just throwing up and letting the WR come down with it. He wasn’t threading any needles or reading defenses.

Any QB with an arm threw for big yards vs Pitt those first few years with Narduzzi.

MR plays a little scared. Or at least hesitant and unsure.

I don’t think he trusts his own arm. And I’m not sure I would either with some of the ducks he throws.

But he has some poise in the pocket. And he’s improved vs last season. And he seems to work hard, so maybe things will come together.

But he’s a long way from having ‘it’.

Im also starting to believe we have good enough weapons for a great QB to be successful.

But without a big arm and big confidence in himself, he’s going to have some challenges in getting the most out of these guys.

What is this, MR's sixth game as a starter??? Give the kid a break.

Maybe we should remember what Ben did six games into his first season starting.

he should be fired immediately, his play-calling is horrendous...

I agree, the game is moving 100mph for MR right now, there are going to be growing pains. I think the play calling has been good, I also think there are plays being called with downfield routes that MR is either not seeing or he doesn't trust his reads.

Rudolph is fine. Going to be a solid qb in this league for years to come.. if given the opportunity
