Even when I thought we'd have Ben for the first 5 games - I had us at 2-3. Our schedule this year was formidable - even at full strength.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment

That's the irony of your position. You trust the org to find the next great head coach, but you don't trust them with staying with their current choice.Comment
-
What irony? The organization gave him only a one year extension; basically putting him on notice. There not all in his corner either. When you are confident in a guy, you give him a three year extension. This was a “ prove it to me “ season.Comment

Because most organizations in this league don’t know what to look for in a new coach. So they take the easy way out by hiring retread. It’s the easy way out. But the majority don’t give them the success they think there going to get.Comment

He had a few years left on his contract before we extended him.
When a coach has 12 years or so with a team it’s not a prove it year to sign him thru 2021 with an option.Comment

Its ironic because you have been telling us what a terrible coach Mike Tomlin is and then you turn around and say our organization is good at finding good coaches. Please stop with this notion of a "prove it deal" he has been our coach going on 13 years. Mike Tomlin would get a fortune on the open market he doesnt have to take a "prove it deal".Comment

I think any objective person would think it is FAR from obvious that Harbaugh is a better coach than Tomlin.
By the way, all these coaches, in fact nearly everyone ever associated with the NFL is a fountain of cliches. I think they send them all to some special school to learn how to repeat them.Comment

The guys in Tampa knew about Mike, the guys in Minnesota knew about him too.
He’s won a lot of games and been to 2 SB’s.
This idea that Tomlin doesn’t know what he is doing is silly talk.
Makes people wonder if there are other reasons they want Mike Tomlin gone.Comment

He's under contract for at least two more seasons after this one (and then another as an option...but we don't know who's option).
This year might be a season where he's on notice that he might be on notice sometime in the next few years.
I think your prediction of him being fired after last season or this one will miss the mark.Last edited by Northern_Blitz; 10-10-2019, 09:58 AM.Comment

This doesn't make sense.

Regardless, we will not win another super bowl with Tomlin as our head coach. So..why delay the inevitable?Comment

The Pittsburgh Steelers will not win another Super Bowl with Mike Tomlin as the head coach.
THAT....is my official prediction. So him still being the coach is delaying us from where we want to go.
So now you can run and tell that Steel Maniac said that. LOL

I think it goes to show how little fans know about coaches and how they are viewed around the league.

I don't honestly care how other coaches are viewed around the league, there are so many poorly coached and managed NFL teams these days. Not to mention the constant recycling of coaches. Coaches can do a poor job with one team and when they are fired they are hired the next day by another team.
Mike Tomlin had one year of experience as a coordinator at the NFL level before he was hired as head coach, not many fans were familiar with him when he was hired. You can even think Tomlin has done a good job as head coach and still think it's time for a change, it's OK.Comment
