and how is that working out?

Maybe, just maybe.. that person we hired also didn’t think it was a good idea to stop the clock.

What if stopping the clock helped the Chargers kicker get a few more practice reps and he makes the kick?

What if the Chargers use our time out to rethink kicking and they go for it, convert and score?

Just seems silly to try and make the decision to kneel down as a big reason something bad might happen in the second half or in a game somewhere down the line.

I swear, up 21.. 3rd string QB, we get the ball to start the second half and this is considered a big deal?

Truly shows how desperate some folks are to bash Tomlin.

I know this sort of moderation is generally discouraged, but is it possible to say that Tomlin made the right decision regarding the clock at the end of the first half (I think he did, and it isn't close) but also hoping that Washington gives us a Gruden-like package of multiple first and second round picks for him?

I am a big fan of hiring a time management guy (although I think it should be an analytics person and not a traditional football coach). I think most coaches make the same kind of "mistakes" Tomlin does with timeouts because being an NFL coach is hard.

But, I think many of the things I've seen people complain about are probably coin flip type decisions instead of legit blunders (like the decision to kick in the BAL game, or whether we should have tried to preserve some time in the first half against the Chargers).

Some of the other things people complain about are things that I'm pretty sure actually increased our chance to win the game (like the onside kick against the Jags). I think these kind of complaints originate from the commentators who often don't recognize good decisions when they go against tradition.

This is where I am on a Tomlin trade.

I don't think Washington is dumb enough to give up that much though...but you never know with Snyder.

            Tomlin trade isn’t happening.

Only way Tomlin leaves is if he wants to get really rich and have more power.

Problem is once you leave Washington you ha e to work your way back up because that franchise is brutal on HC’s.

What if the new hire is advising Tomlin on these calls they disagree with? LOL

I like Tomlin but if Snyder is talkin......I'm listening.

I DONT CARE WHAT HE WANTS from us......I'm listening.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Yes....If we can gouge Snyder, by all means, let's do it. Everybody else has over the last 20 years.

It’s awkward to look at mock drafts and don’t see us in the first round.

I'm sure if they see someone they covet in the lower end of the 1st round, they could make a trade and move up.

A hot college coach? Yeah, those usually work out well in the NFL.

I don't really follow college football. Why do you think he'd be an upgrade at HC?

A very quick look at his resume doesn't seem super impressive to me (admittedly not knowing the context):
                                - His NCAA regular season record is worse than Tomlin's NFL regular season record.
                                - His record in bowl games is worse then Tomlin's NFL playoff record (although it's only a 4 game sample, so it probably doesn't mean all that much).

I think it would also be interesting to see some kind of "success rate" for up an coming NCAA coaches that have moved to the NFL. I bet it's low because success rate for NFL coaches is low to begin with.

I also think someone recently posted that success rate for new coaches in general was bad.
