They didnt almost comeback because we didnt press at the end of the half. The INT is what made the game close. Who really cares though your on the road with a 3rd string QB you dont chase after points when your up three touchdowns.
Washington Wants Tomlin

Chargers had everything going wrong and a gunslinger like Duck showed us what can happen when he gets greedy.lol
they almost tied the game WITH THE WAY YOU WANTED THEM TO GO INTO THE HALF. they came back last year in Heinz with a much tougher task. why would you think 21-0 is a safe lead over them?
as i said,
AT THE TIME THE CHARGERS HAD EVERYTHING WRONG GOING FOR THEM.
getting 1st and goal then moving backwards to miss a FG. how do yo u think that sideline is feeling. they're the ones saying , shoot let's just get to halftime
that's exactly when you want to try and step on their throat, when they're losing hope
what's the problem in trying a safe play or 2 to see if the offense can get going for another drive. if they gain nothing on that down or 2, then head into the locker room. there is zero lost in that scenario and you're actually putting ducky in a game situation we might need to have him gain experience for a later time
PS. i have said tomlin did well in this game despite (what seems to be a weekly) mistake clock management. he should bne learning from them, not committing them week after week
I thought tomlin doesn't "live in his fears"
It was the correct call. Especially when we got the ball to start the second half.
There were much better examples of how you let a team stay in the game in the second half when we didn’t score a TD from the 2 and Duck throwing an INT.
Sorry, I don’t think you will find anyone anywhere who agrees with your theory.
The last minute of the first half on the road when up 21 is the worst time to try and get a 3rd string QB experience for later in the season.Comment

and get the ball to start the second half.
Hell, I don’t think 99% of the NFL would chase points with their starting QB in that scenario on the road.Comment

I'm often a critic of Mike Tomlin's clock management or lack thereof but I don't even think this time it's worth a discussion.
I did come across an article today that deals with Jason Garrett. Skip the stuff about Garrett and go right to the chart about coaches and their record against winning teams. It's very interesting.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.
but Go Steelers!!!

Dude, I do not hate Tomlin. He's just a grade "C" coach who's been skating by because of our stable front office that empowered him to be a caretaker. But his time is up. But were not talking about him per say right now.Is that what I wrote? I suggest you reread what I wrote.
People drive themselves insane over any decisions the coaching staff makes because of disappointment and hate. Disappointment clouds people's judgement.
You are in a difficult position yourself. How can you route for the team to succeed when you hate Tomlin so much?
What I'm saying is that the way the coaching staff handled the given situations were more then reasonable IMO. I thought they made decent/good decisions overall. How the Chargers made it a bit interesting had more to do with complacency by the team from the top of the 4th quarter on then anything else IMO.Comment

This is how I kinda feel; all things considered ; especially with a 3rd string QB.Comment

Hmm...in reality, Tomlin is second and only one of 4 or 5 coaches with a winning record against winning teams. Nagy, Reich and McVay haven't coached enough games for it to be a legitimate sample size compared to Belichick, Tomlin, Carroll, Payton and Reid. Tomlin may lose games to teams that he should beat on occasion but he's 50/50 against winning teams and that's better than everyone not named Belichick.I'm often a critic of Mike Tomlin's clock management or lack thereof but I don't even think this time it's worth a discussion.

Interesting... but I guess all those wins were in spite of Tomlin.I'm often a critic of Mike Tomlin's clock management or lack thereof but I don't even think this time it's worth a discussion.

The only thing Tomlins “owns” are the losses.Comment

PappyHow is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?Comment

I’m still hearing that Snyder is going to make the attempt to get Tomlin. I pray to God he succeeds. I’m rubbing my hands together at the good draft picks we may get.

According to these reports, Snyder really wants Tomlin (seems like Jason LaCanfora is really the fountainhead they all spring from):
Of course, he's going to be careful not to violate the league's tampering rules.Comment

How so? All it tells you is that if the Steelers under Mike Tomlin play a team with a better than .500 record the Steelers are a 50/50 bet to win or lose the game. Now, some of thise wins came in the playoffs and some losses came in the playoffs but regardless, the Steelers are a 50/50 chance to win against a winning team.
