Trust in your owner; we have one of the best. Trust in Colbert; You always talk about how good he is yet you won't trust him in the crunch if he has to find a new head coach.

    Don't be afraid to go forward;

    Eagles were not afraid...
    Rams were not afraid...
    Bears were not afraid....
You just expressed why I don't call for Tomlins head.

    I TRUST THE OWNER.

To this point HE doesn't feel replacing Tomlin is the best move.

To question if we soon need to move on is understandable. Should we do so, "trusting the owner" means you support that move.

To essentially imply Tomlin has ALWAYS been a scrub, undeserving of credit for success with COWHERS PLAYERS is the EPITOME of NOT trusting the owners ability to judge a coach.

In essence it says your average Tomlin detractor is better a judge of the coach than the owner.

That being the case, the inability to know what YOU can clearly see means we have ZERO basis for confidence in a Rooney hire.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

    TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

What he said. This is 100% my POV. The only opinions that matter are the Rooney's and when they decide Tomlin should go, I'm OK with it. What I love about our ownership is they don't give a Sh!t about what the fans think. That is exactly how it should be. They are running a business and they are happy with the return they are getting from Tomlin. Given they tolerated the late 90's performance of Cowher, I suspect Tomlin has a lot of time left. I don't expect a change until Tomlin hits the 15 year mark and then the organization may want to do a refresh. But they aren't going to do it based on fan opinions because they play the long game and it has worked better for them than all but one other NFL team.

Cap, the Rooney's are a class act. They gave Tomlin a one year "prove it to me " extension. I love them for that because it was the right thing to do. Now, when he's dismissed, he has two years salary still on the books unless he takes a head coaching job somewhere else.

So, to think the Rooney's DON'T have the notion of moving on from him isn't true or they'd have given him the customary 3 year extension. Rooney's move at glacier speed and I understand why; that's how they do things. No knee jerk reaction by them. But even they can see the last 8 years have been a disappointment to say the least. Tomlin wasted away an 8 year window.

I never, EVER said he's been a scrub; I"ve gone on record to say he's a grade "C" coach. He's early success was because of Cowher's players and coaches. What success hes' had is based on our organizational stability in assistant coaches & players; and not anything he's brought to the team. Because he's essentially brought nothing.

That's why when someone asked you what is the one thing Tomlin does well, you said , " he wins". "Wins" being the regular season. But the last 10 games, he's not even doing that. Because Tomlin doesn't do ANYTHING well. You can't name a facet of coaching that he does well; not even his expertise of secondary coaching. He's not even trusted to hire and fire assistant coaches. He's not a real coach and has never been a real coach..that's why he doesn't do any one thing well.

Colbert is one of the best GM's in football. I have total confidence in him to find our next head coach. I"m puzzled at so many posters who have pounded the table about how good Colbert is but then turn around and say he can't find another head coach.

Ultimately, your right in that at the end of the day , only the Rooney's opinions matter. What your failing (or don't want to see) is that they gave him a one year extension because he's on the fence with them..finally. And yes, you can say they've been happy with the return of constant playoff failures for the last 8 years.

But he has a lot of time left?? Really?? So much so that they gave him only a one year extension???? Doesn't add up.Rooney's see the light now.

You know that the extension, EXTENDED his contract by a year right? It's not a 1 year prove it deal, which implies that his contract ends after this season.

He's signed up to coach the team this season (2019), next season (2020), and the season after that (2021), with an option for the season after that (2022). The link below says the option is the Steelers', but I haven't seen anything that confirmed that definitively (but it makes sense).

Calling it a "prove it" deal is like when you were calling him a "lame duck" coach last year. It's a BS narrative that ignores the facts of his contract situation.

There was a picture floating around yesterday of a Redskins jet at the Pitt airport. Anyone know if that picture was real and if so, why in the hell was it in Pittsburgh? Is there legs to the trade rumor?

Absolutley...everything on the internet is true. I expect that the team will trade Tomlin mid-season because the ownership is so upset with him.

Oviedo is exaggerating things all over the chat. Belittling any and everyone who doesn't see things his way. Come on Ovi.

Interestingly, you didn't share that same opinion regarding Dick Lebeau. You complained about his defense through 2 SB wins. You defer to ownership's judgment only when it comports with your own.

I guess you mean that I have strong opinions while everyone else on the board is completely rational and unbiased. I guess I'll be the crazy person.

Probably about as likely as me filling in for James Washington this weekend.
