You can say that again! The Steelers had how many HOF players from those 70's teams and still never dominated any of those SB's. Look at the past couple SB runs and if just a couple things miss out then no title.

Tomlin routinely puts this team in a position to compete. Would I like to have the dominant team that wins every game and then one of those SB blowouts that has a party going in the 3rd Quarter? Sure. There are a lot of things I want. Tomlin doesn't get us there, but neither does anyone else.

Like a BROKEN RECORD i'll say
I loved Cowher at the beginning and grew tired of us losing in the playoffs
I loved Tomlin at the beginning and grow tired of us losing in the playoffs

Might be time if we fail to get to the playoffs this year.
Just hire another HC black or white, who cares?

Firing Cowher after losing with high seeds in the playoffs would have meant he didn't win a SB. But, maybe we would have won more SBs with a different coach?

The steelers have had several teams good enough to win a super bowl.
They have also had plenty of teams good enough to go farther in the playoffs than they have lately.
Last years team had more than enough talent to make the playoffs.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

How many teams do you think would be good enough to win a SB each year? My guess is that it's at least 8.

And I think at least twice that many are good enough to win a playoff game (maybe even 2/3rds of the league).

Can you think of a good way to set expectations for a team? I remember Squidkid once said that playoff seeding was a good way to set playoff expextations. You can check the results in the links in my sig if you like.

I agree . There are probably 8-10 teams each year that are talented enough to be predicted as possible super bowl winners
I think your number for winning a playoff game are way too high tho. If 8-10 are super bowl candidates, that only leaves room for 2-4 other teams even making the playoffs.
Expectations? No way my expectations are going to be the same as some of fan.
What I do know is I expected to make the playoffs last year and win a game or two.
In 2017 I expected the Steelers to win at home vs Jax
In 2016 I expected the Steelers to lose to the Pats.
And I'm fairly certain every talking head expert expected the same outcomes as I did those years.

They would had won if they were good enough. Being good enough and performing/executing are two separate factors. The Steelers didn't play well enough as a team to win another Superbowl.

They didn't play well enough as a team last year to make the playoffs. Blame Ben for leading the league in turnovers. Blame questionable coaching decisions at times. Blame the defense at times. Blame the FG kicker for not converting. Blame the ownership and GM for not addressing the team's short comings. There is always plenty of blame to go around. IMO most of the blame falls at the feet of the players. That's one reason why Tomlin remains the HC.

We will know when we have a consistent coaching issue with this team. Maybe it's this year, maybe next year, who knows? Only time will tell.

I think there are definitely teams that miss the playoffs every year who would have been predicted to be talented enough to win a game at the start of the regular season.

I thought we would make the playoffs last year too.

Against Jax, I thought we would win if we scored early to put pressure on their O and if we protected the football. I still think we would have won that game if we did those things.

                    Unprepared and un motivated.

When Ben leaves, the next excuse will be Tomlin has no elite qb.

Ben looks like he is retired but didn’t tell the team.

Would you Tomlin haters take a guy like Pete Carroll over Tomlin? What an old school jockstrap that guy is.

This is the thing, it's not always the coaches fault that a team under achieves. The team generally looked prepared to me. I don't know how one measures motivation. Professionals shouldn't need motivation from coaches.

What time is being wasted away?

When Ben leaves the organization will need to find a new QB. Maybe they already have the QB in Mason?

As of now Tomlin is the coach. You can either support the organizations decision and hope for the best or you can continue to complain and be unhappy about the situation.
