Why Would Any FA Want to Come to Pittsburgh?

With all the recent drama, I can't see Pittsburgh being a top destination for any FA with any options whatsoever.

The only ones we can attract are the ones that have no other options and would otherwise be out of the league.

Let's face it, Pittsburgh isn't a hot destination to live. It's cold. It's overcast all the time. There is no sun. Pittsburgh is practically Buffalo, Cleveland, or Detroit.

There's no likely chance of winning a SuperBowl. Heck, you're probably not gonna make the playoffs. Everything you hear about the Steelers culture is bad on every level. Ownership, coaches, players, etc.

Where going to get the leftovers that no one else wants and we're going to have to overpay for them too.

On the other hand, where better to go to sign a multiyear contract and then, part way through, demand to be traded so you can score a big payday?

fortunately for us, we only go after bottom barrel FAs anyways, so its gonna be business as usual
its not like any of our other FAs took a discount because they thought we could win a super bowl here
we could however attract some guys that want to dick around and not get in trouble or ones from teams that suck and think 8-8 is like winning the super bowl
steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clown

I really don't see players having the same mentality as fans.
          They talk amongst each other.
People act like all the Steeler players are looking to leave.
How many extensions do people sign to stay??

Troy Polamalu still resides in the Burgh. He loves it there.

If Antonio Brown had this problem with let's say the Dolphins.....I highly doubt he'd block a trade to the Steelers

Flippy has flipped out (assuming you're being serious).

FA's switch teams to make more money, which is why the Steelers have almost always done nothing in free agency.

Why would FA's want to go the Redskins? For the culture? All that playoff experience? The awesome chance at winning a ring?

If the FAs talk to Ryan Shazier, they might be better informed about why coming to Pittsburgh is a good move. If the player is a good human being, the Steelers will stand behind him through thick and thin. If he’s not a good human being, why would we want him anyway?

Been to the Burgh recently? It's actually a really cool town that's revitalized. Huge tech and medical city with a vibrant restaurant scene. Weather can be lousy but depending on how far the team goes: you can go spend a couple of months of winter in some place warm.

If you are an offensive guy you go b/c they have a HOF QB, one of the best o-lines in football, and a better than average RB duo. They can score points and move the ball.

On D, you go because there's a need for starters in multiple places. Get some bank and a ton of PT.

Why not go? 4 out of the last 5 years the team has been a double digit winning team. They are going to be in the mix. Pittsburgh didn't become some NFL wasteland b/c Brown is a d!ck.

Answer on O: To play with Ben.

If you're an offensive player and want to have good stats, playing here is a great destination.

If you're someone who catches passes, you get to play with one of the best QBs in the league. That will inflate your numbers and your value.

If you're someone who runs with the ball, you get to play with a great O-Line and against defenses that have to be concerned with one of the best QBs in the league. There are reasons that most backs we plug in do well.

                        Answer on D:

Maybe you want to come here because you want playing time and think you can beat out our current players at ILB, OLB, and CB (and dime backer). More playing time means more money.

these players dont care about winning, culture, wether etc. they go where the money is. now if two teams offer close to the same, they may take those things into consideration. like you said, the steelers are rarely if ever are close
i have always said, if player cared about winning, there would only be about 12 teams in the league

Most Steeler players are not drama queens or all about me me me me ....we need to pickup on problem players sooner and get rid of them.....
But, Pitt is a good place to come compared to a lot of other places....where do I start there ....

pittsburgh is no different than any other team when it comes to having fewer drama players.............the last few years have actually been the opposite
