I like where your trying to go. Your trying to have a two-tight end offense and a power running game; I get it. But Colbert isn't having it.

I'm now convinced that if Colbert were 800 mil under the cap, he'd only spend 2 mil tops.

I decided to take a look at how this TE looks on tape. Penn St game I saw but had to go back to it and looked at the Wisconsin game too.
      The good:
      Great get off.
      Hands catcher.
      Appears to have long speed.
Athletic in space. Hurdled defenders in the open field.
      Can make combat catches.
Initial quickness allows him to get in position to cut block the DE. He did this a lot on counters.
Walls off well and stays on blocks. Real good hand punch and blocks with wide base. Quick enough that Iowa had him wham blocking.
      The bad:
I did not see anything negative that jumped out at me.
His measurables could hold him back. If he's under 6'4 or doesn't weigh 250 or runs 4.8+. He looks faster then that on tape but his 10 n 40 are important.

He looks the part of a first rounder. But as a few of you made the point we have so many other needs it would seem unlikely. How he tests will go a long way in where he goes. If he tests well he could be gone before pick 20!

i know it. there are some on here that act as if the steelers are the only team that drafts a certain way. i think it makes them feel special to believe this
what kills me is the same ones that say this, adamantly defend this approach, yet when the steelrs fall short, they say we dont have talent to
then they say the draft is a crap shoot.
well, if its a crap shoot, seems like drafting for need might be a better way to go, eh?

Unless there's an obvious NFL ready ILB or CB available then im fine with going TE who seems to be NFL ready.

my argument would be the window is closed for this group, especially if they dont want to spend the money and get an impact FA or 3.......as colbert is indicating
i thinks its closed as long as tomlin is here, obviously.
once ben is gone, the only chance we have will be a dominating defense. having a bunch of weapons with a scrub qb aint gonna cut it
thats why i say go defense for the future
off course, giving ben another weapon so he can pad his HOF stats might be the only thing to look forward to until he retires.......and tomlin is gone

Painful selection with Kearse still on the board. Even the O lineman Tate would have been a much better pick n Tate would have filled a huge need. I'm still not over that one n don't think I'll ever be over it.

I'm starting to think the Steelers will end up with two 1st round picks.

In that case I'd be all over Hockenson and the best CB or ILB available with our other pick.

Noah Fant just ran a 4.51 Forty!

Hock ran a 4.71 on his first try!

Wow 4.51 is stupid fast for TE. Hock @ 4.71 is plenty fast enough.

                          Flip the script huh?

I had a feeling the more younger and athletic Noah would have more better combine numbers than Hock.
But I was thinking what if Hock is gone by 20, would Noah fit in what we do?

Hock is an option to be in line blocker, Fant isn't.
Hock would be a wr2/3 while Fant could be a wr1/2.

I like to follow Steeler draft meetings. And senior bowl players. Lots of senior bowl players picked by Steelers.
So I like Foster Moreau TE.
                            Draftscout has a projected 6rd.
This might be the year to get a 1st rd TE though.
Colbert just went all in on Ben. They will get him more weapons. I can see WR,TE,RB as possible picks. There's 7 picks now and maybe 1 or 2 more coming for AB. I see no reason ILB, CB, OLB, WR,TE,RB is all not possible. I would even throw in Kicker and/or Punter is possible. I would like a D line player if nice value and upgrade to back ups now also.
I have no faith in FA. Haden the best pick up but not a game changer.

In a league where every team is trying to find the next Gronk, Kelce, etc... there's no way the top rated TE in the draft (Hockinson) falls to #20.

The mocks I have seen are showing him off the board at picks #8-11.
