It certainly makes sense for them to see what his value is.
Hopefully they can fleece someone. But I think it's hard to see the team getting better in the short term without AB
Realistically....what can we get for AB?

I believe Chris Mortensen of ESPN when he says his Steeler contacts say they are looking to move AB. Mortensen is crediable to me and has always been.Leave a comment:

IMO, we'll trade him. He no longer wants to be a Steeler. I think the only thing that prevents this is if AB comes crawling back with his tail between his legs and begs forgiveness. I don't see that happening.Leave a comment:

I don't think the cap hit will be the hurdle. He will cost $22.1 mil if he's here & $21.1 mil if he's traded. They have to decide if AB can exist in the locker room after what has transpired. I do believe they can find production at WR via draft/FA to fill the void.
With projected cap, rollover, Ben-Dupree current #, no Shazier player contract, & ABs $22 mil....They are $21 mil under. There are some cuts coming too I believe. Cap will not be an issue.
I like AB...I would hate to see the player go. I believe it's worse then we know & AB will be traded before his bonus is due. I wouldn't be shocked if he was already granted permission for his agent to talk to teams. It is a shame. As a Steeler Lifer...I hope I can look back years from now & say good move. That's the only hope we can have.Last edited by JUST-PLAIN-NASTY; 01-09-2019, 09:35 AM.Leave a comment:

FAN today was discussing AB value and it seemed a mid to late 1 or if it was a team like San Fran who picks early a 2nd and 3rd would be fair value for AB. The other value if we move him is the picks will be cap friendly for a few years so though we get hit with dead money now later it could work in our favor.Leave a comment:

Trading up, using Brown, could be an interesting option, so long as there is a player they want to trade up for. That LB White- he might be worth it, given how the team has lost Shazier.
Tomlin has 1 year left on his contract & there is no talk of extending him. That says a lot, because historically the Steelers negotiate coaches with at least a year to go on their contract. This is a make or break season for Tomlin coming up. Chadman is thinking, with his back against the wall, maybe it IS time to make the hard decisions. There is little doubt that team harmony is an issue at the moment. Getting the team to play as a team could very well be priority Number 1.Leave a comment:

But, it's probably good for our kids to realize that players are just people. And they're flawed like the rest of us schmucks.Leave a comment:

I still think, Oakland is the key. Trade AB and our 20 for their 4th and 28th pick in the first round.
If we do this we can keep trading down and up to get our guys.
LB- D WHITE and CB-D.BAKER or S-D. THOMAS in the first round.
Oakland gets a true WR for Carr and still will have 2 picks in the first round our 20th and 25th.
That 4OA pick has huge value. And the Raiders just got screwed last year by giving us picks to take on a talented WR with personal issues. Not sure they'd be itching to double down on that call.
But, I also dramatically undervalued MB's trade value. Hopefully I'm wrong again.Leave a comment:

I think the NFL guru's know what every player is like, some just have the balls to roll the dice...Leave a comment:

I kinda think we'll end up keeping him.
If we were going to try and trade him, why let anything negative out there because it only potentially diminishes what we'd get in terms of trade value.
We're a funny bunch. On the one hand, we want 2 1st round draft picks for what we think is a piece of garbage. How does that seem like a fair trade for anyone?
I don't want to trade him, even with his diva hippo self, but it seems that it is inevitable now. If only he stopped and stayed the whole game. If only he came in on Monday for exit meeting. If only he answered his phone. If only he did not mock Tomlin and us fans with his tweet with Harrison. If only we could of kept him happy...
That is why I think his best value is to use to trade up in the draft instead of just trade him for picks. Most realistic scenario is Oakland trades back their fourth to 10ish and then we do that trade.Leave a comment:

'Cause he ain't garbage. He's one of the best, if not THE best, receiver in the NFL. Unfortunately, he's also a malcontent on the Steelers and doing us more harm than good. AND we have Juju to replace him. That doesn't mean that Brown won't be a better fit on another team. Sometimes, a guy like that needs a change of scenery.
Here's hoping that some team is desperate enough to give us more than he's really worth though.Leave a comment:
