Well, honestly the Clowns do lead the league in turnover differential. They're defense is their only bright spot. To can Hugh halfway through season tells me the ownership wasn't truly onboard with him and were only waiting to make their move and get rid of him.
.... Joos, out2019 MNFE CHAMPIONComment

You could make a strong argument to keep Jackson based on improved record this year compared to last but the major improvements have been on the defensive side, while the offense seems mostly meh. Since Jackson is supposed to be offensive minded, you could argue he wasn't getting it done on that side of the ball and it was really Williams' coaching that led to the improvements.Comment

Bruce Arians would only come out of retirement for Browns job
Posted by Darin Gantt on November 5, 2018, 3:11 PM EST
It’s never too soon to start speculating about the Browns job in 2019, and there’s already one Kangol cap in the ring.
Via Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Repository, CBS analyst and two-time coach of the year Bruce Arians said the only job that would tempt him was the Browns job currently held by interim Gregg Williams.
“Cleveland is the only job I would consider,” Arians said.
The colorful coach worked for the Browns from 2001-03, and was on the staff which made the lone playoff appearance of the modern era of the Browns (2002). They lost that game at Pittsburgh, but the nostalgia is clearly a draw for him.
He also said he thought there was a “thin” pool of candidates who could succeed there, but cited old friend Chuck Pagano as a coach who could.
That seems like more of a wish than a realistic possibility, as the market for coaches who went 20-28 their last three seasons is probably shallow as well.
It’s also unclear if the 66-year-old Arians is ready to get back to the full-time grind, after dealing with some health issues of his own during his years with the Cardinals.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

Bengals announce Hue Jackson hired as special assistant to the head coach
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 13, 2018, 8:43 AM EST
Hue Jackson is working in the NFL again.
Jackson, the head coach fired by the Browns two weeks ago, has landed in Cincinnati as an assistant to his old friend Marvin Lewis. Jackson’s title will be Special Assistant to the Head Coach.
“I have a great comfort level with Hue and his ability to assist me with the day-to-day responsibilities on defense, including analyzing our opponents and helping me on game days with the players and defensive coaches,” Lewis said in a statement.
Jackson added, “I’m pleased to have the opportunity to join the Bengals this season. There is a lot of talent on this team, and I look forward to doing my part to help it finish the season strong.”
This is Jackson’s third stint as an assistant to Lewis in Cincinnati. Jackson was first hired by Lewis in 2004 as the Bengals’ receivers coach. After Jackson spent a year as head coach of the Raiders, he was again hired by Lewis in 2012 and spent four years in Cincinnati in a variety of roles, including two years as offensive coordinator in 2014 and 2015.

Report: Browns considering Condoleezza Rice for head-coaching job
If a homeless person was qualified to tell the Browns to draft Johnny Manziel, is a former United States Secretary of State qualified to coach the team?
Perhaps, in the eyes of Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and General Manager John Dorsey. Because according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Browns are considering former Secretary of State Condoleezza Reice as their next head coach.
Rice is a big football fan who has served on the College Football Playoff selection committee and has reportedly expressed interest in becoming commissioner of the NFL some day. But head coach? There’s no precedent at all for someone without any coaching experience to become an NFL head coach. And Rice has no coaching experience.
But Dorsey did say he is considering women for the job, and if the Browns want a coach to be a CEO who delegates, rather than an Xs and Os game planner, well, maybe they’d seriously do it. Rice probably wouldn’t be any worse than Hue Jackson.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
