Why was our #1 OLB T.J. Watt playing special teams?

To block the final FG attempt.

With Ola Adeniyi on I.R. and Keion Adams and Farrington Huguenin on the practice squad now, OLB is a thinner position for us on our 53 man roster right now (Watt, Dupree, Chickillo) than CB (Haden, Burns, Hilton, Sutton, Sensabaugh)...Brian Allen on P.S.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

If we're going to complain about starters playing special teams, please let's not hear anymore lamenting Ben no playing in preseason...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Injuries happen... bigger issue is Haden seems to have leg issues. This could be a problem.

This injury will really bite us. Burns and Sutton do not inspire a lot of confidence right now.

MILD (Grade 1) Strain - Steelers not going to push it but early indications are favorable according to ESPN

Remember the WEEK 1 scare last year with TUITT - hope this isn't anything that nags him all season.
Hamstrings are very deceptive in terms of recovery ...they can feel fine but then they can pull as soon as your overuse them.

That sounds promising. Likely not this week, but eventually.

Haden has only played an entire season once in his career and that was his rookie season

                            Agreed with Northern above............

Haden has a grade one strain. That's the mildest strain. Hope he can play and play effectively because Hill is beast.

My guess is if we have good weather this weekend at Heinz Field, Haden suits up and plays.

If it's another slopfest due to the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, we sit him out another week as a precaution.
