Ben Roethlisberger has a banged-up elbow
Posted by Mike Florio on September 11, 2018, 12:25 PM EDT
The Steelers worked overtime on Sunday, long enough to get their quarterback banged up.
Via Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, coach Mike Tomlin told reporters on Tuesday that Ben Roethlisberger has an elbow injury that may limit him early in the week in practice.
It wasn’t the result of any specific incident, according to Tomlin, but “just bumps and bruises” from normal game play.
The Steelers will need Roethlisberger to be at 100 percent for Sunday, given that the Chiefs will be bringing their high-powered offense to town in what could be one of the best games of Week Two.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

David DeCastro fractured his hand
Posted by Josh Alper on September 11, 2018, 1:23 PM EDT
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger‘s elbow is a little banged up after Week One and one of his blockers is also dealing with an injury.
Head coach Mike Tomlin said at his Tuesday media session that right guard David DeCastro fractured his hand during the tie with the Browns. He missed two snaps, but didn’t show any signs of serious injury during the game or after it came to an end.
Tomlin said the injury could limit DeCastro, but there are no shortage of instances of linemen playing through similar injuries. Assuming his ability isn’t heavily compromised, that would certainly be the Steelers’ preference for how things play out against the Chiefs this weekend.
Cornerback Joe Haden is dealing with a hamstring injury and defensive lineman Tyson Alualu hurt his shoulder against Cleveland.

At his news conference today, Coach Mike Tomlin provided the following injury update:
TOMLIN’S INJURY UPDATE
“Joe Haden didn’t finish the (Browns) game with a hamstring injury. We’re evaluating that and his availability for practice, and we’re going to let that availability be our guide in terms of the (upcoming) game. We’ll see if he’s available in some capacity (on Wednesday) and see if that availability grows as we push throughout the week.
“David DeCastro has a hand fracture that’s being looked at and dealt with. It happened in the game, and he was able to finish the game. It may affect him from a participation standpoint in practice at least as we get started this week.
“And we had some other bumps and bruises along the way. Tyson Alualu hurt his shoulder. Ben’s elbow may limit him in the early portions of the week. Like we’ve done with Ben in the past, we often limit him in the early portions of the week anyway. It aids in the growth and development of the young passers, etc. Ben’s cumulative body of work over his extended career helps in that charge.”

What do you mean "Slopfest"? Don't you know that field conditions do not have any impact on footing, acceleration/deceleration, balance, speed, etc? lolComment
