We have Bell for this year and according to him it will be his best year ever.
Lets worry about 2019 after we win the superbowl this year.

I am disappointed in the Steelers, they let Bell take a ton criticism for not signing a bad deal.
Be disappointed all you want, thats the way they do business and dont change for any player.
Exactly what LB's agent said in the interview.

I would bet $$$ if he didnt have a suspension and injury history, they probably would've guaranteed more.

The $10 million was probably just the signing bonus...I would not be surprised if there were another $8-$10 million guaranteed this year as a roster bonus (like what SF did with McKinnon)...and then further roster bonuses for the next two years...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

But why not gamble in free agency, hell by signing the tag he is guaranteed 14.5 million, already 4.5 million more than he would make on The Steelers deal . Why take such a huge gamble when your going to probably get paid more in free agency and more guaranteed. It's a terrible deal especially compared to the guaranteed money other running backs are getting.

i want to wait for further confirmation BUT if it's true that only the 10 million signing bonus was guaranteed - then it's a no brainer why he didn't sign. You can make a contract worth 300 million over 5 years and if none of it's guaranteed it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

This is another ramification (again, IF it's true about the guaranteed money) of the NFLPA failures to secure better contracts for it's members. NBA players have guaranteed contracts. MLB players have guaranteed contracts. Heck, many just celebrated Bobby Bonilla day on July 1 because even though he hasn't played in about 15 years, he gets a 1 million dollar payday every year from the Mets for like another 22 years.

I don't know if there will be a strike in two years - I don't know if the NFLPA has the stomach for it, but I think it would be better for the players and the league overall if the contracts between the two were more secure.

That's fine but you don't have to let the kid get crucified as if he was turning down the greatest offer ever.

I don’t think Bell will do much better than $15 per year in the first three years...

He wanted the security of guaranteed money...the Steelers wanted the security of a guy motivated to stay healthy and produce in order to earn his money...

The Steelers are letting him be crucified?
                    How so?
Poor LB only makes 26.5 million the last two years.
                    Thats a riot.

                          Bell is a big boy.
He likes to go on social media and rap about it doesnt he?
If you cant take the heat then get out of the kitchen.

Yea. I can see the owners really wanting to jump on the model the NBA and MLB use for player contracts. It's silly talk for any business owner to be paying for someone not even on the roster. I know it happens, but I don't see the business sense.
Most of this stems from teams having a 'win now' mindset. Thankfully the Steelers take a more balanced approach and it has worked out well for them for a couple of decades.... why change?

Oh I assure you the owners don't want to make the change - that's why I think this next round of bargaining will be quite energetic. My point was that clearly the players want guaranteed money - who wouldn't? but they have failed in the past in securing the structure for those types of contracts. I believe that will be the focus of the NFLPA.
