Ben shows up every year and he still starts slow.
Our defense didnt miss any camp and they started off slow.
Regardless of how the FO “feels” they are willing to try it again so it isn’t that big of a deal IMO.
and after a 13-3 season (shoulda been 14-2) I really think it’s just typical news rag drama.
all the talk about Colbert being fed up or upset. He wouldn’t go down this road if he was truly upset with Bell. He knew what another tag would bring and he is willing to deal with it because Bell is the key to this offense.Steelers 27

I would agree 100%, they don't like it but I think they are accepting of it because over the long haul he ultimately performed and he wasn't hurt. They understand how the game is played when you tag someone."My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

Let me tell why I don't like it. Guice is no Bell...first. Second, we give up a first round pick to become worse? For what? To save money? We have the ability to franchise Bell two more years.Bell-AGAIN! Oh, I thought this was about Bell. My mistake.
On Bell, though, love the thought of drafting Guice at 28, dumping Bell for a #2 and his $14.5 against the cap, leaving us some cap room to fill those spots on the roster that the draft doesn't fill. Gives us a feature back for the next 5 years at a bargain price and frees up money to make a run now without mortgaging the future.Trolls are people too.Comment

and who in this draft will step in from day 1 and make this team better than last year?
i think you may have said yourself that our drafts are geared towards 3 years down the roadsteelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clownComment

but we would get to spite Bell.
Plus in 2019 we could spend big money on day 1 of Free Agency.
Thays literally what the plan is for trading Bell or picking RB at 28 this year.Steelers 27

That’s easy. One of the ILB’s that everyone is gushing over.
Last year Watt made us better.
I expect our our first round pick to contribute immediately even if they don’t play every down.Steelers 27

Bingo. Not sure why it’s hard for some to understand but then again, some folks can’t help themselves. I never implied they were happy with it but they know it’s possible and are willing to put up with it again because of Bells talents.Steelers 27

No, we don’t. A third franchise tag would be 144% over the previous salary, which would be more than $20 million...that is franchise QB territory...Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

And poor Bell would have to suffer through a season yet again as the highest paid back in the league....now by over DOUBLE the salary of the next guy.
Shawn, you are just being selfish wanting to tag him again.
Denied the freedom again to "test the market". Nobody should suffer such a fate.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 04-16-2018, 11:24 PM.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

A transition tag only gives the right of first refusal to the Steelers...personally, I think if they don’t work out a deal before the deadline, it isn’t happening...Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment
