I like Vander Esch to. For a big guy, who is a thumper, he has shown the ability to cover as well. Apparently the Steelers like him as well. And it appears to be a mutual admiration society.

“That one was really enjoyable,” Vander Esch said of his meeting with the Steelers, via Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review “I loved it. It was a great time meeting the coaches and the organization. It was an absolute blast.

“It would mean everything to play for an organization like the Steelers and the reputation the defense has,” Vander Esch said. “It would be pretty special. It would be awesome.”

This kid, Rudolph, is as close to a young Ben as there is. 6 ft 5, big, strong, hard to bring down, pocket elusiveness, with play making ability after he breaks tackles, an accurate arm, with touch, and an above average deep ball passer. The Steelers may never see this opportunity again. See Dan Marino.

Big picture.....see it, know it, embrace it....for once. : )
The Aaron Rodgers blueprint is dated as hell. No one waits 3 years for a franchise QB to take over. We don’t have that luxury with the new CBA rules.

I think Ben is playing at least 3 more years.

Plus, Rudolph ain’t no Big Ben. I know Pitt made him look like Big Ben in Heinz Field but no, heelllllz no. That kid isn’t anything special.

I think games vs Oklahoma, TCU and Kansas State will be more common than games against Tulsa or Pitt. I think h will be a fine back up tho.

LMAO at the hyperbole tho, that’s hilarious.

Ben may play 3 more years...or, he may not...

At any rate, if the Steelers believe Rudolph to be a franchise QB and they take him, they may simply allow Ben to play out his contract...

Also, if you take him in round 1, you have a 5th year option...

This would also apply to Lamar Jackson if he were available at #28 and the Steelers selected him...

Reason 3: They aren't happy unless they are unhappy

I never realized how many people view the world as "a glass half empty" until I started posting here and on the previous board. Sad way to be a fan and live

I would prefer we didn’t draft a QB this year. I think we have more pressing needs. Hopefully these meetings are smoke screens and we go D.

And I hope we don’t reach for a defensive player if a franchise QB is available...

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

                    Touché!

Invariably, there will be a run on one position and the Steelers will probably have an opportunity to draft a very good player that you would not have expected to be available at #28...kind of like David DeCastro...

I just hope a truly special player can be selected at #28 this year...regardless of position...

As KC has said before.."We never want to go into a draft with needs...Only wants."

Enter Bostic & Burnett. 22 Starters on roster.

No "needs" when the Steelers are on the clock. They "want" an ILB, S, OLB to add to compete...But they can take BPA now in the first. If that is a guy they believe is a franchise QB...You can't pass with your starting QB being 36. Did I mention he's 36? If they feel Mason is that guy...And he lands in your lap...You just Bridged your team.

                      Remember Tommy Maddox?

Now you have me thinking, would everyone go nuts if we select a guard round 1?

A famous coach does an interview about how he went about drafting a particular player. That famous coach stated well we had a top flight qb and some depth behind that guy so there was no need at that position. He goes on to say they had more then a few needs and started plugging holes with the draft. So he's picking guys and according to this head coach he notices this qb still on the board ranked as high as anyone else but still passes as other needs are driving his draft. Well you can figure it out where he finally says guy x is just to good to pass up at a certain point in the draft and he pulls the trigger on him.
That said you all should know the two guys in this story. So lets say a Rudolph gets a high grade from us say late 1 but we go Evans n then in round 2 somehow Reid is there just for an example n we go safety. There likely comes a point of return in this example it could be round 3 where the value becomes to good to pass. Drafting isn't an exact science.

I agree. Lets not forget the Steelers like Landry Jones.
However the elephant in the Draft Room will be the DEFENSE.
You have 2, maybe 3 yrs left w/ your Franchise QB. Lets not worry about "the next guy"

he has a 2nd or 3rd rd grade so I have no problem pulling the trigger in 3rd round.

First round though? That would be a reach IMO.
