Nope. Very possible that a team could have those players ranked at BPA when it was their turn to pick. If they're picking without factoring need in at all (which is what your original statement said), it could come out this way.

Obviously, a team has to be conscious of who exactly is on the roster and what spots are potentially available...the team is made of 53 players...my mistake for thinking that it went without saying...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

But, that isn't what my original post said...you inferred that from my post all on your own...

Nope. Actually quite plausible. But even if it was ridiculous? Your initial statement was even more so.

Your original post said, "If you draft for need, you're doing it wrong." Later you said you needed to clarify, "if need is your primary criteria." But without that clarification, you were speaking in an absolute.

Holy semantics, Batman! You know what he meant, he knows what you meant. But by all means, go on endlessly whining about the syntax or context or whatever...
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Draft cant get here soon enough.

Not it sure why folks still argue over BPA/Need.

Both are factored in when making the decision and sometimes it tilts more towards Need and other times BPA.

Depends on the team, year, draft board, roster positions available, etc.

                Exactly. I agree.

Some people just get petty with the picking of nits over someone else's opinion...

Bottom line: I don't want to pass over a better football player in the first round because we "need" a LB or a Safety...that isn't too difficult to understand, is it?

Exactly...The Steelers pick 28th. Come the 2nd round, If " their " 30th overall ranked player is a OL, and is there, they take him...Now, if the 59th,60, and 61st ranked are there in the the 2nd...And they are OL, QB, or S/ ILB...You take the latter, and go by need...imo

That's because of two reasons. One, they have an agenda. This wouldn't fit for who "they" want for the Steelers. And two, they aren't paying attention to what the Steelers are doing. The Burnett and Bostic signings fill the two only immediate starting holes the team had. This frees the Steelers to do what "they" want to do. Pick the best player available regardless of position.

Be careful, now...someone will swoop in here, misstate your opinion, and then argue with you about it...

Drafting another Ben right now is not for using another Ben right now. It's for when current Ben retires. See Brett Farve and Aaron Rodgers.

This kid, Rudolph, is as close to a young Ben as there is. 6 ft 5, big, strong, hard to bring down, pocket elusiveness, with play making ability after he breaks tackles, an accurate arm, with touch, and an above average deep ball passer. The Steelers may never see this opportunity again. See Dan Marino.

Big picture.....see it, know it, embrace it....for once. : )

I agree with you that they did fill those holes to clear their minds to be able to take who they want to take in round one. I want the Boise State linebacker but I just don't think he'll be there for us now.
