What is the best case scenario for a team? They invite Bell in for a tryout. They decide that maybe he does have a little bit of tread left on the tires so they figure they'll gamble on signing him for a year. They approach his agent and ask what he would be looking for to sign for one year, the response...$10M? $12M? Some other outlandish amount? FWIW I'd rather gamble on bringing Kallen Ballage into camp.

Ya I don't think his market value is very high right now, but this is something him and agent know, they are listening to offers not demanding outrageous contracts. Steeler fans create these scenarios in their heads, he is painted as a monster simply because he turned down a contract for a better one.

No, I'm talking about DeAngelo Williams, a free agent signed for cheap who had over 1,000 total yards here and average much better than the slug like Bell vs the pass, and pretty close to his best prime year as a runner. There you have it the next man up behind Bell at the tail end of his career, doing nearly a well as a runner and better as pass catch. So What was Bell's value to team? Well--maybe Belll wasn't slow but he was one of the slowest starting back in the league.
