And the team's job is to try to sign players for under market value because that's how you win in a cap league.

They couldn't come to a mutually acceptable agreement and that's fine.

Bell bet on himself and it could have paid off big.

And when you have more money than you could reasonably spend, maybe it's worth swinging for the fences.
I think Bell saw all these other positions getting guaranteed money and looked at his production and wondered why he wasn’t making a ton of money.

Seriously, look at his playoff run in 2016 I believe where he broke playoff records in consecutive weeks.. and he’s seeing AB make stupid money while still on a rookie deal.

I'd imagine that seeing Shazier go down would make reasonable people wonder if they should just quit while they have their health and an enormous amount of money. Although succeeding as a pro athlete probably requires someone to be kind of unreasonable since the chances of making it are ~ 0%.
THIS is the point. Team and player do not always have a shared goal. Bell wants as much guaranteed money as he can make, Steelers need to factor in a backs effective life span into any guarantee. Steelers dont want to be on the hook if his game tanks. Bell wants his money even if his game tanks. Don't hate him for it, just thought it stupid for the Steelers to do and correctly predicted a stupid team would do it. And that team regrets it.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

We arent his agent (well I speak for myself, you might be. ). I really only care about the good of the team, what makes them more competitive. I have zero concern about "fairness" in either direction. If Bell is in every single snap of the season, and has 100 percent of our rushing yards, and averages 3.9 yards per carry and I can replace him with two guys who average a yard per carry more? A tendem that makes a quarter what Bell make? Leaving money left over? Good enough but not great receivers? I dont care whatsoever that Bell carried a huge load before.

Philly won the SB with a BETTER run game than we had with Bell. Even though Bell lead the league in rushing.

Bell will sign with the Bears and this thread will get buried again.

Nice fit. Got his guaranteed big deal from the Jets, KC got him no doubt without breaking the bank (I actually hope they did but I doubt it) Nice outlet for Mahomes.

As I noted earlier, dude has no reason for regrets. Just the team that overpayed for him.

Wow Chiefs get Bell. He lucked out. Vet back like Bell who can block n catch so well. Tough for everyone else but a good fit for KC as if they needed any other weapons. He isn't at 28 what he was a few years ago but he'll get a bunch of snaps now. He should do well be it in a limited roll.

Bell should be reenergized by going to the Chiefs. If he is, and if he has anything left in the tank, this would clearly make them the Alpha offense in the league. Because Bell can also pass block very well too and totally balance out that offense.

and Mark Madden called him a millionaire failure... smh. Failed his way onto KC.

I could see if the Jets were rolling without Bell and released him but that team is a mess. I’m not shocked but I’m a little thrown by the Jets sticking by Gase.

The Chiefs have a good young back, and I still get the impression that Le'Veon wants and expects to be the centerpiece of the offense. I'm waiting to see if he will accept a limited role, even if the team is winning.

I’m curious to see how they use him. Andy Reid is really good at getting guys open in space and they run a lot of screens.

Bell could make one of the most explosive offenses in the league even better. Bell could get a career revival with the Chiefs.
