I think it's hard to compare contracts because of how they're constructed. The steelers are really good at honoring the entire contract - so even though the guaranteed money was less, bell likely would have collected all of it, and thus he likely lost millions with this last years antics. That being said, the NFL is a brutal business and there are countless examples of that - Eric Berry is a recent one. Mike Golic talking about how he got cut from the Dolphins is another. So while I believe Bell left money on the table - that's just based on how the Steelers have traditionally behaved.
But if you're a dope smoking moron who's one bad decision away from career suicide - perhaps guaranteed money, even if it's a lesser amount, is not a bad financial decision.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment

Le’Veon Bell contract was point of contention between Mike Maccagnan and Adam Gase
Posted by Mike Florio on May 15, 2019
With the rumors and reports of Jets G.M. Mike Maccagnan being on the outs coming to fruition, related rumors and reports need to be taken more seriously than they may have been.
Here’s what we wrote when the rumors of Maccagnan getting fired first emerged: “Some have pointed to the decision to sign running back Le'Veon Bell as the biggest sticking point between Gase and Maccagnan. (Or, more accurately, the decision to pay Bell as much as the Jets did, given that the Jets likely could have gotten him for significantly less.) Bell’s decision to skip a voluntary minicamp this week gave Gase plenty of ammunition for a round of I told you so’s within the team’s facility.”
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News now reports that Gase didn’t want Bell at all. Although the more accurate explanation would be that Gase didn’t want Bell at that price, the point remains that Gase wasn’t on board with the decision to break the bank for the former Pittsburgh tailback.
With Bell still absent from offseason workouts, the report makes an already awkward relationship even more awkward, and Gase and Bell could have a hard time getting and staying on the same page.
It will be for Gase to make Bell believe Gase wanted the player. And it will be for Gase to realize that what he wanted currently doesn’t matter, and that the best play will be to do whatever needs to be done to get the most out of Bell moving forward.

Then he went on to talk about how the coaches and players made him feel important and valued in NY. This is almost comical hearing his new coach didn't really want him.sigpicComment

Welcome to NY sports. I had to edit because the last article sums it up perfectly. Not sure what’s going on in NYC but the sports franchises are a freaking mess. Who are these owners and why are they so bad at this?
How do you fire a GM right after the draft? What makes Gase so special?
Weird how some of these new coaches are able to grab so much power so quickly.
Good thing that money is guaranteed. LOL.Last edited by Oh wow; 05-15-2019, 04:25 PM.Comment

Welcome to NY sports. They suck. Gase also wasn’t happy about the CJ Mosley signing.
It’s not like not signing good players has worked out well for the Jets. You can’t get better on the cheap. That’s not how it works in today’s NFL. You have to draft well AND get playmakers.
Good thing that money is guaranteed. LOLComment

Amazing. How does a coach get hired in the same division AND get the GM fired that quickly?
No wonder the Pats keep winning that division. These other teams FO’s are a jokeComment

Le'veon Bell is already imploding the Jets' franchise
By dinner on May 15, 2019
Jets fired their GM today Mike Maccagan, head coach Adam Gase will be interim GM until one of the spots is filled.
The reason? Gase doesn't like what the teams current cap space looks like. He didn't want to sign an RB and he didn't want to sign that much for Mosley either. Apparently, he also really did not want to sign Bell either.
Then as soon as the news broke Darron Lee posted a subtle tweet about being happy of the change, only to get traded immediately after to Kansas City.
Leave it to Bell to take to social media and post shots at the media for criticizing him during this time, and continuing to go on about how all he wants to do is win even though he held out a season for money and left a 13-3 team for a 3-13 one.
Among all the reasons why I want to see the NFL get back into gear, seeing Bell fall flat on his face with the Jets is one of the better reasons. So happy we got rid of this guy.

Don’t worry; Bell will be getting crushed on the field. I think he’ll be out for the year by the end of week 11 at the latest.Comment
