Hopefully Bell doesn't release his new song... bashing the Steelers organization... lol.
In all seriousness... Bell should have signed the first deal we offered him 2 years ago. He could have made a killing on that deal...and then possibly been in line for another sweet 2-3 year deal to end his career. What an idiot.
He bet on himself... and seems to have lost. But nothing is signed yet, so who knows. Interesting that GMs think Ingram is a better value being two years older and lower stats.
Maybe Bell is looking more like the Michelin man than an NFL running back these days.....?

Got damn it Ernie!! Didn’t I tell you to stop making sense??
ESPN ’s Dianna Russini said on NFL Live that”most GMs” around the NFL believe offers to free agent Le’Veon Bell are “ coming in around $11-12 million per year.

Le'Veon Bell is running out of time. On Tuesday, it was reported that the New York Jets have given Bell until midnight to either accept or decline their longterm offer. New York reportedly made Bell their final offer earlier in the day.
"Jets have made their final offer to Bell... with solid guarantees and incentives," Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News has reported. 'My understanding is it is a fair offer— but will not be earth-shattering. Jets are waiting a short time for his answer... or they are prepared to move on."
While free agency doesn't officially begin until Wednesday at 4, Bell's representatives have been shopping their client on the open market. On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported by ESPN's Dianna Russini that, based on her conversations with NFL general managers, Bell is receiving offers in the ballpark of $11-12 million per season. Bell was reportedly hoping to land a longterm deal that would have paid him $15-16 million per season. He was also hoping to receive a generous amount of guaranteed money, something that ultimately led to him not signing longterm with the Steelers.
It's clear that Bell's contract demands have limited the teams interested in signing him. Bell's market value is also being impacted by veteran back Mark Ingram, who is reportedly asking for significant less money than Bell. While no one would say that Ingram -- 29 and coming off a 645-yard rushing season -- is better than Bell, it's clear that NFL teams would rather sign Ingram than a 27-year running back that hasn't played in an NFL game in 14 months.
Last month, speaking at the NFL Combine, Kevin Colbert said that the Steelers would keep their options open with regard to possibly re-starting contract talks with Bell. Colbert, despite what some may think, was not just offering lip service when making those comments.
"We are going to leave that door open as we do with all of our players," Colbert said when asked about Bell. "When a player comes back to us after they’ve been on the market for a while it’s usually a really good environment because they know what’s out there for them, and if we can do something better, great. But in the meantime we had a young man named James Conner and another one named Jaylen Samuels who stepped up and filled that position very well for us, so you look at the kind of money it may take to take a guy like Le’Veon off the market and weigh what it would do to what else we want to be able to do. We will have to balance that out, but we will always leave that door open."
If Bell does sign with another team, the Steelers will receive a compensatory pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. they also rid themselves of further contract drama with Bell while also officially moving forward with James Conner and Jaylen Samuels as their running backs for 2019 and beyond. But, if the market for Bell does fall to a certain level, the Steelers can entertain bringing him back while keeping two-thirds of the Killer B trio in Pittsburgh.

Report: Le’Veon Bell to sign with Jets
By Curtis Crabtree | Mar 13, 2019, 12:41 AM EDT
Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell has a new home with the New York Jets, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
The deal will pay Bell $52.5 million over four years. The deal averages $13.125 million a season over that span with $35 million guaranteed and a max value of $61 million.
Bell held out the entirety of the 2018 season to avoid playing on the franchise tag with the Steelers. The Steelers declined to place the tag on Bell again for 2019 and allowed him to reach free agency.
While Bell may never fully recoup the $14.54 million he left on the table by sitting out the 2018 season, he now has the long-term contract he was searching for with the Jets.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Congrats to Bell for resetting the entire market for the RB position.
Looking back on what the Steelers did offer, does that mean we offer guys too much money? Are we bad negotiators? We offered Bell too much, gave AB too much, probably overpaid for Pouncey and Chickillo. We didn't get a great return on AB for the trade compared to what the Giants got for OBJ.
Maybe it sends a bit of a message that if the Steelers offer you a contract, it's probably fair or more than fair and future guys should take the contract.
