Starlifter,
Great post! Very well thought and I wish I could've state similar thoughts in as concise of a manner. I get what you are saying about Ben's amazing play. A great deal of them were born out of desparation.
You can be amazed at Ben's ability to deliver the ball but also realize that they are called low % plays for a reason. In fact, its more frustrating because they can make these plays. It goes to your point about "The Patriot Way".
It has become quite a well known fact, even with the talking heads the Steelers play to the level of their competition.
Last night, the first two drives yielded punts by the Pats. Once the Titans scored I said out loud, "Well now the Patriots will turn it on." And like a switch. And bad calls notwithstanding they never looked back.
I mentioned earlier in another thread I am seeing the end of a run here in Seattle (analytically). About 7 seasons and it's over. Now they have Russell Wilson but the real heart of this franchise is that D.
They have 1 superbowl win and 1 loss and a bunch of playoff games to their name.
My point is simple...the window is closing and it's closing fast. I've watched Landry Jones try to connect with Brown in spot starts in the past. There is something missing and it's something amazing. Ben/AB have ESP. It's like they have a shared brain.
Ben isn't going to stay until 40 ( I am willing to bet money on this one). I think he has 1-2 seasons left tops.
The Steelers front office needs to realize this and take one more shot with the right coaches. And I too do not mean Tomlin goes. But there needs to be an evaluation on what it takes to get another Lombardi without mortgaging the future.
I don't know what that is - I don't get paid to make those decisions. But I agree with you Starlifter...this is not working and I think Andy Reid +1 is a very spot on assessment.
