Yeah, Harrison, who this time last year had more total tackles than our starting OLBer have ever had COMBINED.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Some of you people kill me acting like Harrison would had made a huge difference. It's really laughable that people would suggest it just so they can believe or say the Steelers were wrong to let him go. Actually the Steelers wanted Harrison to stay. He made the decision to be a disgruntled individual and wanted to leave. How anyone can continue to like and support a player that turned his back on his team at this stage of the season is beyond me. He shouldn't even be mentioned as a Steeler great. It's one thing for a situation like his to play out during the off season and another thing to give up on your team during the season. On top of it he signed with the Pats.

We're not arguing the point of liking or supporting the guy. That was done two weeks ago. We're saying that he would've made a difference today. TJ had 1 f'n tackle, Bust had 3. Are you saying that he can't beat a 22-year old kid name Cam Robinson? Cam Robinson has never seen a 270 lb. fire hydrant like that at Alabama. James eats guys like this for lunch, wet-behind-the-ear kids with no old-man-strength. And its not like we're saying he would solidify our defense... but if he gets pressure to halt just one scoring drive, that's one less score for them.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Considering the fact that he wasn’t going to be given the chance to contribute to a win, he would have watched helplessly as we lost just like he did the last time we played the Jags, when he knows he can help. What’s the point?

He is on a team that believes he can contribute to a SB victory, we did not have that POV.

If he is the washed up bum some of you contend, who cares?

JH plays them next week. TJ had 1 solo and one assist. Dupree 3 solos and 1 assist.
I can tell you this you ain’t seeing this Founette run straight where JH was supposed to be and James be driven so completely out of the play that you don’t see him in the replay like in that TD to the pylon. I cant even tell who the OLBer was on that play.

Ask Fournett in a week whether what OLBer gave him the most problems.

it's funny how everyone says "if we did the exact opposite" we would have won.

if we didn't talk before the game
if we didn't let JH go
If we didn't try the on side kick.. surely the Jags would have ran 3 times and punted. No way they throw the ball even though they play-actioned us to death cause.. no way Bortles would beat us with his arm.

We lost a lot of those games against "sub par" competition WITH James Harrison on defense in his prime. The real reason we lost is because we usually lose to the Jags at home. I'm still shocked but damn, we were 1-4 at home BEFORE yesterday. Unfortunately the opening kick off set the tone for the game. Guy gets hit at the 20 and drags people for 10 more yards. They wanted it more.

We also won 2 SB's and played in a 3rd with JH on the squad.

Throw the records out... we had close to 3 weeks to prepare, and that was the best collective game plan that we could come up with?

I know.. but we also lost to Tebow. James had 3 tackles in that game. Just sayin'

It's nice to fantasize all the good things that could happen with JH on the field but we have seen this before when playing a QB that supposedly isn't that good at passing the ball.

James having 3 tackles in that game would have matched what TJ and Bud did yesterday.

This loss goes on the coaches. Terrible game plan...lack of preparation (mental and X"s and O's)... game management, play calling.... It's the worst I've seen Tomlin and his staff.

yup.. which is why I don't think that's the reason we lost. Our whole philosophy on defense has changed and without Shazier it all fell apart. Hell, WITH Shazier we still struggled vs the run at times.

When your DE's get neutralized... you've gotta have a pass rush out of your OLB's. Plain and simple. Everyone bragged all year about this "Evolving" defense... and the OLB pass rush not being "As important" as it used to be. Looks like it finally caught up to us.

I saw folks talking earlier in theyear about preferring our current front 7... to the likes of Smith, Keisel, Farrior, Hampton, JH, etc... I would have loved to have had that crew yesterday.

I agree. While I like the pressure we get up front the holes we leave open are killing us.

Which is why I scoff when folks say it's a passing league. It's always been a "do whatever works" league. Most of our losses have been due to playing nickel or trying to stop the pass and teams gashed us on the ground. It's still football.

This is a sobering moment for our Coaching staff and organization...

Look at the teams remaining in the playoffs... First and foremost, those guys can stop the run. Oddly, the Pats have the weakest front 7 of the 4 teams left... but they have been battling through injuries (Hightower and others). the difference is, they have depth, and are coaching up those guys... their defense is vastly improved.

The Patriots may not be the most talented team in the league when you look at the starting 22. But when you look at the 46 dressed on game, and consider how important defensive line rotation is and how crucial late game pass rush is, they're very solid. Lawrence Guy was a very good FA pick-up. Deatrich Wise was a 4th round pick that has been getting better throughout the year.

The needle is trending upward with your defense. My comments were meant as a compliment to Pats coaching staff.
