Even though your defense isn't playing well, you have to give your team the best chance to win and that would have been kicking it deep and playing for 1 stop. Ben owned their defense, he would have been able to get them into FG range w/o issue or possibly even win the game. He was on point today, save for the nice play by their linebacker in the first.

Which made the decision even more baffling. Jax was more interested in running the clock and forcing the Steelers to burn their timeouts.

          That's just it.

Jax would run the ball 3 times and exhaust our timeouts. Assuming the ball is around the 20 and they kick it 45 yards they would've settled for a 65 yard with no timeouts with their strongest side of the ball, the Defense.

Fact is they could play those % simply because a TD results in only a tie.

Situations like this expose Tomlin for what he is -- a good coach, but not great. He simply has to make better decisions in pressure situations to join the ranks of the elite, IMO.

However, it's not like there are any sure-fire great coaches out there for the taking, so the Steelers will continue to roll with MT. So they will mostly continue to fall short of expectations, even though they have talented teams.

Stop. Timmons was done. His speed was gone. He would make Spence look like an Olympic sprinter. Steelers tried to get his replacement in Hightower but got jobbed. No way you can fault the staff for the Shazier injury leaving a hole.

There are 8 teams looking for a HC that might even come close to Tomlin's record. I don't see that can't miss guy out there. And if the team misses on the HC, you are looking at perhaps as many as 5 - 8 yrs of mediocrity.

Ok if the OSK was executed properly and without a penalty than the Jags would had gotten the ball at the 40 to 45 yard line. The Jags ran the ball 3 times and got 9 yards. That would had placed the ball at the 30 to 35 yard line. Would the Jags had kicked a 47 to 52 yard FG in that situation or went for it on 4th and 1? They probably punt or go for it in that situation.

I suppose Tomlin wanted to give his team 2 opportunities to get the ball back. One on special teams (onside kick) and one to make a stop by the defense. The penalty and the defense inability to stop the Jags from running the ball allowed them to kick a FG. Two chances to get the ball back is better than one chance regardless of the odds of either.

Agreed. That was my point, and that's why they will keep going with Tomlin.

Yes. It seems to actually get worse every year!

It is something that we could probably live with, he1l we have to... But what is unforgivable, is how ill-prepared we were, according to the players themselves. Miscommunication seems to be the prevailing post-game thought. That points to hubris, and just a lack of preparation by players and coaches alike. Yet we are subjected to these fvckheads "accepting responsibility" for the loss. I hate that $h1t!

You want to accept responsibility?! Prepare like your supposed to! There is no reason that we should be sitting home right now, if they went into this game like it was the Super Bowl. If they went into this game like it was the Super Bowl, we win this game. This was a straight lack of respect given to the Jags, and I'm sick of these guys (now) claiming responsibility. You should all give back your paychecks this week! Give it to the fans who paid to watch this debacle.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

BS. Timmons played some of his best football down the stretch for us last year. Was a mistake letting him leave.

I don't think we'll be able to upgrade at Head Coach. Finding a competent OC and DC is the most realistic option.

Sadly, if he would have kicked it deep the Jags would have prob drove 80 yds and scored again. That's the sad truth.
