Looking forward to James "stepping up" in the playoffs and McDonald becoming a "deadly" threat out there.
TEs in the Playoffs

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus. -
I said the opposite.
That said, there are times when you would feature them. Good TE play against teams with great corners like the Jags is imperative. Beating linebackers up the middle and forcing safeties to come over pulls them from the outside guys.Comment

Vance is the closest we have to "deadly." (BTW, he was not a TE referred to as "deadly." It was JJ and Grimble who are not even close.)
Vance can run deep seam routes and pole routes, actually make defenses account for him with more than a linebacker. Any "guy" can do a stop route.Comment

Read the first few comments. People talk like we have extra room for mediocre guys like that to get a bigger role. A bigger role for one, means a smaller role for another. You throw the ball more to those guys, it takes less from the truly studly guys we do have.I wasn't hired for my disposition.Comment

Nope. Wrong again, amigo. I simply made the mistake of praising the efforts of all of the Steelers’ tight ends over that short stretch of the season. The fact that anyone would include praise for Grimble and James was so offensive to you that you felt the need to go crazy for several pages.Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

I knew the above statement was going to surface at some point when I started this thread. I should have clarified from the beginning that it wasn't my intention at all to take reps away from the "Studly guys". That's what the opposing D-Coordinators are for. My point was/is... if and when defenses double team AB and key on Bell... there are other guys who should be wide open or have favorable matchups that can/should be exploited. I like the increased TE option versus throwing to AB in triple coverage (which we've been known to do).Comment
