This rule gives the bureaucrats at the NFL home office more control over the outcomes of games...

Then why watch if you are essentially saying it is the WWE and roller derby? Why comment on message boards? Buy merchandise? Invest any time or money into what is no longer a sport?

That is a great question. Other than the Steelers, I don’t really watch. I comment on the message board because I have been part of the community for, like, 10 years now and I enjoy this forum. I haven’t bought merch in a few years, quite honestly, and I haven’t been to a game in nearly 10. I still love the Steelers, but I don’t love the NFL...and if the NFL’s crap keeps bleeding into the Steelers’ games, I may just call it quits. I hadn’t thought seriously about that until Shazier’s injury.

At any rate, this team has been one of my favorite things for 40 years of my life now. I can accept that things change, but they aren’t changing for the better.

I’ll probably never say no to watching the Steelers, though...

Why not just go back to 2 feet down and a football move, in my opinion if a guy has two feet down and stretches for the endzone with the ball secured in both hands, then clearly he caught the ball.

That is kind of the way the rule is written. It is just enforced with a different interpretation. It is also enforced by a dude sitting in a office miles away from the game.

Even better. Just two feet down with possession.

I thought about that but I think it creates to many fumbles.

If it's a fumble, it's a fumble. It was OK for the first 30+ years of the league. Fumbles are exciting plays and it's fair as long as consistently enforced. That is much more easily enforced consistently than the nonsense rules of today.

You don't have to be a robot or vulcan to ask yourself why you would spend time and money watching and debating fake sports on message boards. I would laugh at a grown man debating who won the last Wrestlemania on a WWE message board.

Because ruling a football move is subjective. They want to take subjective out of the ruling. Like the recover has to stay in bounds rule change.

By saying a recievrr has to survive the ground if he's on the way down while making a catch.
                          There's less interpretation

                              Case in point:

Cooks’ TD catch didn’t conclusively show that he lost control of the football...

                              But, Austin Sefarian Jenkins did?

just another reminder of how this league plays favorites. 99.999999% of the time that is a TD.

It's amazing how blatant it is but folks would rather lie to themselves than admit the sport they are watching is influenced drastically by the FO.

I mean, no one is saying the refs are forcing players to fumble or throw INT's but...\

How can you watch the refs call Troy's INT in Indy a fumble?
How can you watch Peyton dive on the ground, give himself up and then get up and complete a pass?
How can you watch Troy return a fumble for a score vs SD on the last play and they over rule it because Vegas would take a hit?
