I liked the pick for the potential to be our next Hines Ward.
Josh Jones and Awuzie went right before him and those were the 2 guys I wanted.
Looks like Dallas and Green Bay did us a favor b/c Hilton has done in the slot what Awuzie would have been asked to do.

On paper it looked like we were set at WR with Bryant returning and Rogers development in the slot so it looks genius at this point now.

I've seen a bit of Josh Jones - I like that role they have for him in Green Bay. I'd love for the Steelers to find a guy like that next year.

a few folks said MB couldn't be trusted so this pick was insurance. I don't even think it was insurance, just a GREAT kid with a huge frame who blocks like a maniac and catches more passes than he drops.

That drop last night was terrible but I think it showed he was human.
His blocking on the James catch and run more than made up for it. Probably added another 10 yds .

After the game the radio host said Ben told them that he was still upset about the drop.

Thanks, got no problem with admitting it.
Like Dizz said, if you are gonna be wrong, this is what you WANT to be wrong about.

                I always hope I'm wrong when I don't like a pick.
Better the team be right than me.

That drop was a case of trying to do too much after his big play. He clearly turned his head up-field before he secured the catch. Ben needed him to make the catch, he was beyond the sticks, didn't need another inch of real estate, if I remember correctly.

He wasn't the same player. I wouldn't call him a bruiser though. I watched most of his games at Michigan State and he always had a burst even at 245. Why I was so high on Bell was the fact that the Michigan State OL was porous and he still found ways to produce positive yards. He was scrappy, played with heart, showed amazing vision and could make something out of nothing. With all of that said, NO ONE seen this coming. Him dropping 20 pounds allowed a start stop that is freakish. He is now one of the best backs to ever play the game. He is that good.

As for JuJu. His game film reminded me of Jarvis Landry. He lacks elite athletic traits and it's why he dropped to the second. With that said, his blocking, hands and ability to catch in traffic did catch my eye. I think he still has much work to do on his route running. But, he seems to know how to find soft spots in zones. He's going to be a player for us that is for sure. Hindsight is 20/20. If we knew about Haden, Hilton and about Bryants douchebaggery no one would have complained about the JuJu pick.

The only question now is for how long he'll be OUR beast. He's a great talent. It's too bad he feels the need to set a new bar for RB compensation and isn't shy about talking or rapping about it or holding out. When we're talking about the kind of money a guy like him makes and will make, isn't it possible to be happy with being just filthy rich? Play for the love of the game. Does it have to set a new record in order to be fulfilling?

I'm REALLY hopeful that JuJu stays grounded. He's having fun right now and it's infectious to the whole team. Conversely, AB's antics annoy me and at least Ben didn't care for the way he threw a tantrum on the sideline.

                              A big honor for JuJu

                              Steelers.com

JuJu Smith-Schuster was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

JuJu Smith-Schuster stepped up big for the Steelers in the 20-15 win over the Lions on Sunday night, and his standout performance earned him AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. He is the first Steelers’ rookie to earn the honor since Ben Roethlisberger did so in 2004.

Smith-Schuster had seven receptions for 193 yards, including a 97-yard touchdown reception from Roethlisberger, where he caught the ball short and took off running.

“JuJu just got separation,” said Coach Mike Tomlin. “They were in two-deep man under, which is often a call in that down and distance. He did a nice job in creating separation and making the throw easy for Ben (Roethlisberger) and then the rest just, academic.”

The 97-yard touchdown is the longest pass play in Steelers’ history, and is tied with the longest offensive play in team history, a 97-yard run by Bobby Gage in 1948.

“On that play, you see two high safeties, middle field open, you take it,” said Smith-Schuster. “As soon as I caught it I burst, I started picking up my legs. And once I got past the first safety, missed him, and then the second guy went for my ankles. He couldn’t get me down and I was like, ‘Man I got this.’ And I scored, and like I said, without those guys, the front line, without them, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Smith-Schuster set a single game career high with his 193 yards receiving, and also are the second-most single game receiving yards by a rookie in team history (Jimmy Orr – 205 – 1958.).

“He is a big-time player, great performance,” said Antonio Brown. “The man stepped up big. He made a huge play down the middle, 97 yards. One of the biggest plays in history. First game starting, I’m really happy for him. Hard-working kid, he comes to work every day and it’s great to see him have a big game.”

Smith-Schuster, who at just 20-years old, brings an infectious enthusiasm to the field and locker room, something that rubs off on his teammates.

“He’s an affectionate person,” said Brown. “He brings a lot of momentum, a lot of great energy, always fun to be around no matter the day, no matter the time. He’s one of those guys, if you’re having a bad day or you’re having a down moment, you definitely want to be around him.”

                              http://www.steelers.com/news/article-4/A-big-honor-for-JuJu/5e7f55f1-6dcd-4bd4-961b-8d9424cb320a
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

You just have to love the guy. And the name JuJu! And AB can actually learn something from him in terms of attitude. Nice to see him praising JuJu.
