I think the issue here, is with players airing their problems to the media.

I remember, and your right about Bryant doing that. But that's what addicts do. With that being said, I wish Ben would have kept that to himself and that could have been addressed internally amongst the players. We didn't need to be involved in that.

If they fight like they play football that has "Rocky" 1 written all over it.

As a football player Bryant is "faster" much more athletic.
As a football player, Ben just refuses to go down.

Ben eventually wears Bryant down by getting his face pummelled until Bryant tires out.

Overall, I think you're probably right about everything best kept behind closed doors and all.

But I still wonder a little bit whether Bryant (since his lie that he was clean was public and to the team) should have to be held accountable in just as public a fashion.

That doesn't *sound* unreasonable, I can at least imagine Ben thinking that way and thus saying what he said, even if state of the art addiction therapy might say that's not the best way to deal with things like this.

Bryant made himself news. Reporters asked Ben about it. Ben told the truth (which is something that Bryant did NOT do at the time). The lesson here is, if you don't want teammates to talk $#!+ about you in the sports media, don't lie to them and then attract a lot of attention in the sports media. Don't give reporters a reason to ask your teammates pointed questions.
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I'm kinda on Bryant's side, but I see your point (and Ben's). I think so much of this guy as a player (he is prime Terrell Owens good). If he was on the field last year (playing the "if" game), I think we win it all.

Next to Ben and Le'veon, I'd say he is this year's 3rd most important Steeler. (I'd put Bud Dupree 4th, then AB.)
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Holy crap, we finally agree on something...Perfectly said
If it was the first time Bryant screwed up then by all means keep it in the locker room.

or ben could take the high road and recognize this kid is struggling and call him on the phone instead of whining to the media about being lied to

great QB, not a great leader

I think the problem is that, the first time Bryant was in trouble, Ben did reach out to him. Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice...

That may be accurate but if I'm a guy in that locker room now, I don't feel comfortable going to Ben with anything I have to say, or Bryant for that matter.

Burn me twice and I think you probably have real issues with substance abuse or an extreme thick skull. Regardless, I think Ben's history is spotty enough he should know better than to use the media to get to Bryant.

Who knows, maybe players talking publicly about Bens issues helped him get on the right track but I doubt it. I think hitting rock bottom is hard enough, no need to pile on.

I prefer coaches and the FO over a QB like Ben to make that statement.

Perhaps, but with Coaches and FO, it's business. I think that Ben reached out to Bryant during the first suspension and then feels like Bryant betrayed him. It was personal. Being an addict doesn't excuse you from your actions.
